Hi guys, I just picked up a WML-C43 bluetooth module and 3.3V voltage regulator. I'm not new to soldering but I would appreciate a more in-depth write-up on how to properly wire everything up. Does anyone here know if such a doc exists yet? Some pictures or even a rudimentary drawing would be great.

For people wanting to keep up-to-date with the connector board project, we've uploaded our first PCB design: https://github.com/dolphin-emu/bt-module-connector/tree/master/Designs

This version is intended to be hand-soldered as a prototype for a limited number (about 10 to 15 units). When everything works correctly another designer (sigboe) will work on a version that will go through a reflow oven which allows for a much bigger production (about 50 units for the first run). I'll keep everyone posted on our progress in this thread and we'll likely do a blog post once we're finally ready to ship dongles.

Here is another diagram that includes how to wire the linear regulator

This may be easy to wire up, but I advise you not to unless you know what you are doing. If you aren't careful you can short something out, and possibly damage your computer. People are working on PCBs for this project, and I would advise waiting for those if you aren't sure.

Thanx for this scheme ... now it should be clear for anyone Smile
BTW. AFAIK sync button is optional because Dolphin gives software key for sync so two less cables to solder Smile

I have a USB sensor bar already which I made out of an aftermarket Wii one, and I'm thinking that it might be cool to have a Wii bluetooth adapter inside it too. If I just order a 'spare part' Wii adapter, how likely is it to:

a) Actually be the same part as in an unmodified Wii? (Does anyone make Wii-compatible adapters, or all they all either genuine spares or removed from broken Wiis?)

b) Actually work for this purpose if it turns out to be hardware which isn't identical to that of a Wii, but which would work when installed in a Wii?

I've seen a few for around $2 with free shipping (albeit shipping which takes up to 50 days) and I'd like to know if this is a genuine bargain or if I'm getting something that might just not work.

We'll be testing those parts soon, though we buy them in lots of 10 or more.

That's awesome.  Thanks for the update.

What do you expect the cost of each version to be and is there a particular Wii BT module you recommend, i.e., maybe a link to a vendor?

We don't know the cost yet until all designs are finalized. We will be shipping them with a BT module already plugged in and the entire assembly will be put inside of a plastic casing.

So this will be an all-in-on solution integrated with a Wii-specific BT module to plug directly into a USB port without requiring an external power supply?  That's even better than I thought.

That's right.
