I tested mine and it works. I didn't bother with the sync button, and I soldered one of the wires between two contacts to save space and a wire. Here is a diagram that took me 5,000 hours in MS paint to illustrate what I did. The orange and red wires were the same color, but I'm a dumb dumb and made them a different color in MS Paint.

Again, I've tested it, and it works.

Because of the blob that I've put in the red circle, I thought the test pads were where I've drawn gold dots:

If you had done it like that, it wouldn't have worked.

Ah, actually, that glob is actually a poorly soldered white wire being slightly suspended above the pad. It's literally being connected by solder alone. It's shit, but it worked, and that's another reason why I wanted to hotglue it.

So I’ve just finished making my WiiTARD.

In my case I found I didn’t have to solder a + power wire to three solder pads which is just as well as I’d destroyed the first solder pad. I also didn't bother with the sync switch.

Youtube 10 Soldering Tips to Instantly Improve Your Soldering Skills Wish I'd watched this first.

I got my stuff in the UK from https://thepihut.com and https://www.rapidonline.com to get the ST LD1117V33 3.3V 0.8A LDO Regulator.

I also mixed up the usb data connections and got the dreaded Unknown USB (Device Descriptor Failed) so here are some pictures to help wiring up a usb plug.

I used hot glue and put it in a plastic bag to protect the circuit from drinks.

You do know that linear regulator can become very warm, right? I don't know how much current the bluetooth adapter draws but I wouldn't put a linear regulator inside a plastic bag.

just wondering, but hasn't anyone made a pcb to do this?
i mean, ordering the pcb on jlcpcb (or wherever you want) is 5 - 20€ depending on shipping , parts included would be what, 30ish max?
and it wouldn't need precise soldering either (button, LD1117v33 , and the contact points can be aligned on the pcb like the xenoGC)
would be a lot cleaner and more stable too xD

The Dolphin team have been working on that for an official adapter, but it would have a plug rather than use the test pads.

Regarding a regulator getting hot, I don't think there's anything like enough current involved to cause heat problems here.

or that, but i didn't check how much and how hard the connector would be to solder for the average joe

(EDIT : i believe this is the connector btw : https://www.molex.com/molex/products/datasheet.jsp?part=active/0541020164_PCB_RECEPTACLES.xml )

IIRC they never intended on marketing an official adapter. Rather they would make the plans for one and you'd have to make it yourself somehow. I'm unfamiliar with the process.

something like this?
its just something i quickly made this morning & afternoon (had to open my wii to measure the pitch and sizes of the test points) but it should be ready to have a prototype pcb ordered through jlcpcb/lcsc
