One of the few games I've tried with 4 wiimotes is MKW and occasionally have had an issue where it's really hard to sync the fourth one.  I'll check Wii Sports tonight to see if I experience the same issue as you.  As you can see from the last several posts in this thread, there are multiple issues with BT passthrough, even with the Wii's own BT module.  It is to the point that I'm considering reverting back to emulated BT and trade-off wiimote accuracy for stability, but I still want to try a few more things before giving up on the promised land.

I'm not sure if your question was directed Watermelon or to one of the previous posters but is seems his problems are with Wii Sports and Wii Play.  I have experienced some 4th wiimote issues trying to connect MKW but they are rare and have been cured by simply reestablishing the BT pairings.  I don't discard this issue possibly having been caused by previously playing NSMBW, somehow.

My next step will be to corroborate Watermelon's issue and to give UsbDK a try, despite the risk of wailing and gnashing of teeth with that driver.

Thanks for testing Wiisports for me.

I want to re-create the problem you have with NSMBW. May you please tell us how to re-create it?

How many minutes into the game does it usually disconnect?
Does it disconnect with 1 wiimote or with multiple?

I've played it with 1 wiimote for 30 minutes and there were no problems. Also, when all synced up, connecting all 4 is a breeze, no issues. I haven't played with all 4...but they all seem to connect well.

...
I've noticed syncing the 4th wiimote on a number of games seems to take longer than the other 3. But when synced, they work good. For now (from what I tested) just Wii Sports and Wii Play have disconnection problems when using 4 wiimotes. There may be other games, but I haven't come across them yet.
...
For me, using USBdk gets rid of the 'LIBUSB_ERROR_NOT_FOUND' and I haven't experienced any negative issues with it. Some previous posts seem to have an issue with it. What are your experiences with USBdk?

Thank you. If you need me to test games, I'm all for it Smile

I tested Wii Sports last night and was able to activate all 4 wiimotes without issue.  They all stayed connected through the various initial screens, all the way into a match of tennis for 4 players.  During the match, I swung all the rackets and put the ball in play a few times, with no issues whatsoever.  I realize now that Watermelon also said he has problems with Wii Play but I forgot to check it.  I'll do so tonight.  It seems like different people have different setups with BT passthrough and Wii modules.

Before that, I did give UsbDk a try, even though I had awful experiences with it in the past.  I even got to a point where I could not regain BT passthrough functionality even with Zadig but was able to resolve it rather quickly (big scare!).  It was all for naught though, because the controller misbehaved in NSMBW with that driver as much or worse than with libusbk.  After I was able to get libusbk back up and running, I noticed the disconnections now happen even sooner than before.  I don't know what could cause the issue to deteriorate further.

I still have to assume this all driver related.  Perhaps BT passthrough needs a driver written specifically for it but I'm just throwing darts in the dark here, as I don't know about these things.  I received another BT module yesterday so I'll be testing that, hopefully over the weekend.  If it doesn't make any difference I'll revert back to emulated BT and wait to see if the situation changes.

Where are you using the wii bt module?

The nsmb is a bug, but other you are experiencing, Im not sure.

PC is full of EMI interference. You need to place the module at least 20cm away from the pc.

Been playing nsmb for 20 minutes and didnt experience disconnects.

What I did experience, was wiimote not syncing, like we reported before on this game. Manual resync everytime you launch this game.

EMI problems should be added to bt passthrough wiki. PC is a EMI beast. It wont affect every user, but if your pc has too much EMI, you need to at least separate the bt module 20cm from the pc, or range Will be severe affected.

I will certainly try that. However, I don't have this problem through extended playtime on MKW or SMG2, just NSMBW.

Will test more then. And report back. Dont have 4 controllers to test. But Will keep testing nsmb. I guess the proper bug is the resync problem with this game. Other problems Will need further testing.

There wont be a specific driver for bt module.

The fourth controller disconnecting is only on nsmb too?

Well, now I got a disconnect on nsmb a few minutes after start playing.

There were some problems related to bt passthrough and @leoletino implemented some fix some weeks or month ago. May be related.

That disconnection every few minutes is precisely the problem.  I do also have the issue where the wiimote won't connect if I try to soon after the game loads but the real problem is those disconnections, which render the game unplayable.  This happens with any number of wiimotes, not just 4.  The 4th wiimote issue that Watermelon described is on Wii Sports, but I was not able to replicate it in my setup.

Keep in mind too, that I tested versions of Dolphin dating back to 6 and 12 months ago, and I still had the disconnection issue, although it took longer to manifest itself.

I think you could try portable version or delete sysconf.

I think this game worked fine before. Or at least much better than now.

To make Dolphin portable, you can download Dolphin and make a file named portable.txt on the same directory than Dolphin.exe. This should be the proper way to test older builds.

Also not sure if using usbdk Will be the best.

One of the first things I tried was making dolphin portable and the problem was there I also deleted sysconf.  Moving the adapter away from the PC did not help either.  I'll keep testing.

I kept doing tests with various dolphin versions and the result is the same. I even tried the versions before and after leolatino's PR-7216 which increases BT packet sizes and no the bug is present with both. I've run dry of ideas.

After I put together my new BT module, I'll post here with the result of my new tests.
