If they lifted, it's very likely you applied too much heat, either by prolonged contact with the soldering iron or by using a soldering iron of too high wattage...

When pads come off of a circuit board, there is still hope if you can see the physical connection beneath the solder mask (some points may connect to something you can't see on a multi-layered board). This seems to be the case with this module. Referring to the image below, a razor blade can be used to gently scrape away the insulation over the trace (the red line) until the bare metal is exposed.

It's possible to solder a wire straight to that, although it can be harder since there is less room to work with. From my own experiences, I've noticed that the copper traces do not come off the board nearly as easy as the solder pad (or test point) would, and solder actually sticks to them very well, granted you don't scrape the copper off the board. Man, these old eyes can barely see the pads, let alone the traces that lead to them.
No way to repair the board that fizzled on my first attempt, those traces are just too tiny.
Maybe a professional, with a good setup could do it, but that's not going to happen here.

No worries though, the second one I got to work was only 5 bucks or so, and has been sync'ing perfectly for the last week.  Playing Mario Kart like it was made to.

Hopefully people aren't scared to try this themselves.  With some young eyes, and a steady hand, it shouldn't be too hard.

Thanks to the folks who figured out the pin-out on the chip.  I hope they can figure out how to produce a Wii-BT<->USB setup that us non-DIY peoples can just plug in.
Keep at it!

I bought a 3DS wifi module online but was mistakenly sent a Wii bluetooth board, so with inspiration from this thread I decided to put it to use.

I tried to make it compact so here's what I came up with:

I used the plug of a broken usb cable, and a 3v3 regulator (TLV2217-33KCSE3) which I had lying around, and a button.
The regulator is taped on top, and the WML-C43 below.
The button was able to stay in place, by snugly fitting it's legs between the ridges of that plastic thing that keeps the cable straight.

To anyone making one, I would advise using a multi-meter continuity test to check which wire is DATA+/-, as not all cables use the same colour coding.

I connected in dolphin using 1+2. I have yet to try bluetooth passthrough.
I works well, however I couldn't connect a wii remote using the sync button.
I tested the wiring, and there are no shorts. Continuity test indicated all the connections were solid.  I read +5V +3.3V across the button (while pressed) using a multi-meter.
Any advice regarding the sync button?

The sync button only works with Bluetooth passthrough.

Only Nintendo's SDK Bluetooth stack knows what to do with the HCI event that is sent by the adapter when you press the sync button or hold it. Without passthrough, well, the host stack ignores the event and it literally isn't passed through to the game (which never sees it).

Apologies for bringing this thread back after nearly a month - but has there been any progress in this coming to something we can buy? If this solution is better than any other for Wiimote/nunchuck implementation I'd be willing to pay good money for one..

We're still working on it, progress is being made though slowly.

Did nobody build a PCB for pop-in replacement? I thought someone was working on that. If not, I would be willing to design one
