If this was covered, I do apologize. I searched this topic for only 2 hours yesterday.
The reason I am writing this is because I have multiple computers in my home, one is a "game" computer to keep my son from using mine. The computer is fast enough to run an old version of dolphin (1.02) fairly smoothly, but not updated enough to run 2.0 or 3.0. As it is a "toy" computer, I am not interested in fixing it up.
That said, my son was not able to use an xbox360 controller with version 1.02 as it was not supported out of the box. After reading thousands of posts of how this was not possible, that people needed to get the most current version of dolphin, and how people should upgrade hardware, etc., etc., I decided to play around a little and see if it could be done.
It was amazingly simple to do, and I thought I would show others "How To" should they be unable to upgrade to the smooth and elegant 3.0 version of dolphin.
First, download the version of dolphin 2.0. (can be found in downloads as of May 2012) Unpack/install it to your system.
Second, navigate to the plug in folder of 2.0 (IE: x:\file\file\Dolphin2.0\Plugins) find the file(s) named "Plugin_GCPad.dll" and/or "Plugin_GCPadNew.dll", highlight them, then copy the files.
Second, navigate to the plug in folder for V1.02 (IE: x:\file\file\Dolphin v1.02\plugins). Inside the plug in folder, past a copy of the aforementioned dll files.
Third, open your dolphin v1.02, click plug ins on the menu bar, then chose plug ins. When the pop up appears, click the drop down arrow next to "pad input". Select the plug in that is a square (you will have 2 squares if you copied both dll files. Select one of them) and click on it. Now click "Config".
You now can configure your game pad for use with your old v1.02 dolphin.
I hope this is not a duplicate of a previous post, and I hope that it helps someone who is not able to use the 3.0 version. Maybe this could be a sticky so that others can find this easily.
