Question
Hi all,

How do I get my Wii Classic Controller (extension, it plugs into the Wiimote) to work with Dolphin Wii emulation?

I'm using the latest version of Dolphin.

I searched the forum and found an "official" setup guide but it doesn't work at all for me. It says to set Emulated Wiimote and to set the buttons there, but it doesn't even detect anything I input from the Classic Controller, nor is it delectable from the device list.

I tried playing a game with it just set to Wiimote but the game would not accept any inputs from the classic controller.

To reiterate, I do not have the standalone wireless classic controller. I have the one that plugs into the wiimote as an extension like the Nunchuk does.

Is it possible for me to use the classic controller or not?

Thank you

I'm assuming you have a real wiimote in which case why do you not just set it to real wiimote?

Thank you for making pointless comments and not offering any sort of assistance to even remotely answer my question.

For someone with almost 6000 posts, do you know if it is possible to use the classic controller, or not? Or does it work as it should when connected to the wiimote for games that support the classic controller? IE, is it not possible to force dolphin to use the classic controller for games that don't support it.

If you have a real classic controller, it 'just works'. If you don't, you have to use an emulated Wiimote with a classic controller extension, and that works like any other emulated Wiimote.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: Intel i5 4670K @3.4GHz... for now @4.6GHz with a quick and dirty (yet stable) OC. May get faster in a bit before the end of time.
RAM: 16GB (Down from 24 GB after some was given to siblings)
GPU: Radeon Vega 56

I was under the impression that maybe I could use the classic controller for games that "require" a wiimote, but I guess that is not true.

I tried Monster Hunter Tri and found that the classic controller does in fact work there. I guess you can't use it for games that don't "officially" support the classic controller.

If you were to use something like glovepie you could, but I wouldn't recommend it.
