How to upgrade to latest SVN

Having downloaded a compiled SVN release, how do I "upgrade" from my previous version without losing settings and saves?

...in other words, what files do I keep and which do I overwrite?

Apologize if this has been addressed, but I couldn't find a pre-existing topic -- so feel free to just point me in the right direction if that's all it takes.
