I have been trying to run Skies of Arcadia for a couple of days now,and it was unplayable for one reason : sound.
If using HLE there was a lot of missing music, instruments, sound would cut off etc..
If using LLE sound would work as it should, but game was very slow, even on new i5 sandy bridge cpu. It was also unplayble as sound would skip a lot every time game would slow down one 1 fps below 30.
So,bottom line,I figured out how to play it now : enabling "accurate vbeam emulation" in game properties speeds the game a lot,by 50% in LLE. Now game is running at 30 fps all the time and sound is perfect.
So I just wanted to share in case somebody alse has problems with this game
A quad core ( or triple core ) cpu is still needed, because of the "lle on thread" option needs to be turned on,or game would still run at 28-29 fps instead of 30 even on i5 which still causes sound skipping
