How to set up a Memory Card

I am trying to set up a Memory Card. In the GC older, there are just 3 empty olders. and when I run Animal Crossing. it says I need to ormat the memory card. how would I set this up? (Please excuse the missing letters, the key between D and G dont work so I cant type it )
