How to save a game?

Hi guys.
I've been trying to play Luigis Mansion now but it crahes, not often but randomly and i haven't figured it out yet how to save the game.
Is there a key for quicksave or somthing like that?

yes, go to emulation, save state, slot 1
when you wanna play from that spot again go to emulation, save state, load slot 1

After you catch a ghost the game should display a dialog asking you if you want to save, choosing yes will save the game to Dolphin's virtual memory card file.

I would be careful using save states, if you update your revision you could very well lose your previous save states. In most cases the virtual memory card works best unless you need the benefit of being able to save anywhere.

I don't believe that is true. You have to find "Toad" in the game and he saves your progress.

Actually it's both, the game will ask you to save after each ghost you catch and when you meet a toad. Not sure about the normal ghosts, but after each Boo you catch it allows you to save the game. It's been a few months since I played and finished it on Dolphin, but I think that is pretty much correct.
