How to press R lightly?

I am playing Super Mario Sunshine and if any of you guys have played it as well you know that if you want to run AND shoot water (and you have to if you want any hopes of completing the game) you have to press the R trigger lightly. But I am using a joystick and I can't press it 'lightly'. So any plugins where I can set up a button for lightly pressing the R button? Thanks.

I am using a Logictech Attack 3 Joystick and the Dolpgin GCPad New plugin.

That probably isn't something you want to be using for Gamecube games.

You have to use a Controller that has Pressure sensitive buttons(Xbox 360 controller is a prime example because all you need is the controller no adapters required)
