How to manually save wii games

I can't though, the option is greyed out in game and it says, "the game cannot be saved". The game is Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn if that helps. I know with gamecube games you could go under config and save a file which acts like a memory card but can the same thing be done with the wii games?
