With Dolphin 5.0 if I start a different game and then close it. The next time I open dolphin I would only have to press the play button to play it. I've upgraded to 5.0-9155 to use some of the latest hd textures but the play button is basically the same as "OPEN" It just open up my hard drive. I figured that I can set a default ISO path in config but it's set in stone and I have to go back in and change it if I wanna play another game. Was this a feature exclusive to 5.0?
How to have dolphin's "PLAY" button remember ur last played game after closing it?

Yes, Dolphin no longer works like that. The Play button can still be used to launch a game that you have selected in the game list, though.
Care to remind me again why Dolphin doesn't do this anymore? It was explained once to me, but that was a while ago. Definitely interested in "fixing" this one way or another. Otherwise imo the Play button is pretty useless since you just double-click a game to run it from the list or grid.
EDIT - As it was explained to me, Qt couldn't boot cleanly using the Play button like it used to. This is just me typing at 6AM, but I browsed the code a bit and it doesn't seem too bad to properly do. Make a new configuration variable like MAIN_DEFAULT_ISO and save that filename every time StartGame() is called. In MainWindow::Play(), validate through Qt that the file exists and the string is not empty, then pass it on to StartGame(). Unless there are larger issues lurking around, seems like restoring this would be easy. If that's not the case, I'd love to know more about what problems there are. 11-25-2018, 10:43 PM
Also the Play button is very nice to have when pausing and resuming emulation.

Pausing and resuming like that isn't accurate emulation though. We should remove it
![]() I guess I meant to say the Play function is useless for starting games. I've never set a default game, and I can only imagine a few situations where I would. Most people probably just select games from the grid or list view and double-click from there. I always used the Play button to start the last game I'd been running, since that was always much more accessible than scrolling through my game list. At any rate, if I get VS Studio up and running (can't seem to get Dolphin to build with MinGW) maybe I'll throw out a PR. 11-26-2018, 03:57 AM
It'd be cool if Dolphin had a recently played games list under the "file" menu. Now that I think about it I'm kinda surprised all this time went by and it still doesn't.
