How to get the most out of SBS 3D?

So I've been trying to get the best image out of SBS mode, while using 4x scaling.
For reference, I'm using an Oculus CV1 with virtual full-screen.

4x scaling is 2560x2112, and it's rendering 2 images horizontally, so I tried doubling the horizontal resolution,
making my monitor output 5120x2112.

When I do this, I get lots of unused horizontal space, and the only way to fill it is to set the image to stretch.
Is there any way to get Dolphin to render 2 2560x2112 images in SBS, or is the stretch mode actually achieving this despite its name?

AFAICT only HDMI 3D and Anaglyph options will produce full frames for each eye, the other 3D modes will always have half resolution on the vertical or horizontal axis, depending of the option. By using "Stretch" aspect ratio you're not getting any more pixels, just stretching the final output to fill the screen...

That makes sense, but does that mean there is no way to get perfect integer scaling with SBS enabled? 4x scale is rendering 1280x2112 for each eye then, if what you're saying is true, but I'd happily go out of my way to use 2 integer scale images.

Yes, there's no way to do that at the moment.
