You can't . MAC and Linux use OpenGL backend
Only windows can use directx backend

You could use wine, which implements Direct3D9. There's not much point in that, tough, as wine will map the Direct3D calls back to equivalent OpenGL calls, so unless you suffer from a grave bug in the dolphin OpenGL plugin which isn't in the Direct3D one, don't use it.
If you want to try it neverthereless, install wine and install the Windows version of dolphin with it. Expect it to be ~20% slower, tough (in this case).

Just using linux doesn't magically make you a computer freak. Everyone who's using it now started doing so one day ;p

Not that the number really matters in this context, but unless you actually tested it I would guess the slowdown to be much bigger than that. I also doubt Wine is able to run 64 bit builds of Dolphin, yet.

I did actually test it and the slowdown is about like that. Smile
Wine is, contrary to popular belief, not slow. It is not necessarily any slower than running an application on windows natively.

Sometimes it's actually faster. In the case of Dolphin there is slowdown, about 3-20%, so it's better to run native version unless you want to test something or it's known that there's no bugs in some game with d3d9 (like Kirby shadow bug with OpenGL/D3D11)

*thumps up*

(
but ultimate sounds like a pirated version Wink
unpayable for normal user in that case just say "windows 7"
home/premium costs about 60-70bucks
ultimate 3times so much
and the benefits of ultimate are not noticable for casual user...
the only feature i would use is the multi monitor support for remote desktop connecting Big Grin
its only available with the ultimate edition or windows 2008 server
)
