Hi all,

This is my first thread. I'd like to know if it is possible to dump GameCube games on a WiiU? I don't have a Wii, just a WiiU. I want to play Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance in the Dolphin emulator because of the netplay.

Thanks!

Unfortunately it not possbile with the wii u. the smaller game disc weren't compatible with the wii u disc drive. This was also the case for latter wii(if I not mistaken) and the wii mini. You ideally would want a wii with gamecube support(there would be port on the left side) for since the gamecube method is much hard to get the stuff for.

I was afraid of that. I had forgotten that we do actually have a Wii in the house, but it's the newer model that doesn't play GameCube games. So at this point, I have no way of extracting a GameCube game to a file so I can play it on Dolphin, unless I want to buy an old Wii. I don't have a GameCube either.

I may be wrong (and have no way to try it as my 3 Wiis I own are half broken "old" Japanese Wiis that I bought very cheaply and at least one of them has a working DVD drive so I can dump games Smile) but anyway AFAIK even the Wiis that are not officially Gamecube compatible can be softmodded and should be able to read and dump Gamecube games.
You could try follow https://wii.guide/ and then see if CleanRip works (I'm sure there are people that are much more knowledgable than me though).

Wii Family Edition (the model that lacks GameCube compatibility) modified the slot loading mechanism of the disc drive so it can't take mini DVDs anymore. Just a softmod won't be enough to regain GC compatibility in those models...
