Hello friends!

I have to admit I haven't used my Wiimotes (2 official ones) for a long time in Dolphin, not since Windows 7 anyway.

Read some topics here about problems pairing Wiimotes in Windows 8 and decided to test it it out for myself, heck I got some time over so I figured why not (and yes for those who remember I was on Server 2012 but have now switched to Windows 8 because of speed issues with DeSmuME so sue me)

Yes sir! There ain't no "Pair without using a code" option anymore and the damn thing wouldn't let me to pair it because obviously I had no code. Well if Windows was going to be a smart-ass, so was I.

And there was no way I was going to grab Wiipair or any other 3rd party program either, I'm done using 3rd party software because things should just work without them (and yes I have left MotioninJoy to)

So I launched the official release of Dolphin 3.5 x64 which I usually use, pressed the buttons 1 & 2 on the Wiimote and all four lights blinked like a Christmas tree and then I clicked the pair button and it paired instantly.

Played a level in New Super Mario Bros. Wii without problems and were satisfied with the result.

This was the easiest way to pair/connect a Wiimote without using the official Bluetooth wizard which fails or any other 3rd party programs.

So if everything fails, just pair/connect in Dolphin and be done with it.

It may not work for everybody, but I'm just glad that's over. Windows 8 is OK and I leave it at that.

EDIT: Hopefully I helped someone, if I didn't then there's not much I can do about it.

@ Gemini

It didn't work, that's why I gave up and did it the super easy way :p

@ ED2

Yeah that's what it's for Smile

I know this whole thing sounds funny but sometimes the best way is the simplest one.
And Windows 8 can be a dick sometimes but so can I.

Im using this Bluetooth dongle: IOGEAR - GBU421 - Bluetooth 2.1 USB Micro Adapter and updated WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software drivers for it.

I have two Wiimotes from two different Wii's. One from my old 2009 white Wii which is a plain ordinary Nintendo RVL-CNT-01 white vanilla Wiimote and then I have a black Nintendo RVL-CNT-01 Wiimote Plus from my 2011 black Wii.
They both work beautifully by using the described method above.

Pressing 1 & 2 on your Wiimote and then click pair up in Dolphin should work just fine. But it could also be that you're using a different stack.

EDIT: Again, it may not work for everybody, heck I could be the only one that got lucky enough and got it to work.

The only thing I know about the pair up button is that it only works with the Windows stack. TR remotes don't like the Windows stack too much.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional

Hi, I was hoping you could give me some advice.

I'm running Dolphin 3.5-367 on Windows 8 x64. Dolphin runs great, but I can't get my Wiimote to pair up. I have a WiimotePlus that Windows recaognizes under control panel as (RVL-CNT-01-TR.) I have the same (IOGEAR - GBU421) Bluetooth dongle you have. I without softaware first. Then I tried installing some Toshiba stacks that would not run on Win8. Then I found the lateast Toshiba stacks (V8?) and that installed, but then Dolphin would start pairing, but get stock, and never get past "pairing." Then when I saw your WIDCOMM comment, I googled that, and went to their site(?) and their download page, but not sure where to download the latest WIDCOMMyou mention. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction? Thanks
