How seriously do you play games with Dolphin?

If you have a brain and a good PC, you can get good results. If you don't have both, use your Wii.

It's seems like the community is mostly about support because there are so many clueless people asking the same questions 100's of times.

I've been on many forum sites and I have to say that Starscream is showing downright poor communication towards a forum user.
How you managed to obtain an admin position I'll never know.

The fact that he is aware of emulation shows he isn't new to the "tech world".
I've had difficulty getting this program to run on even that of the most powerful dekstop replacement laptops such as Alienware or the Precision line.

My impressions from you are that you are indirectly insulting him with what can only be described as sharp comments.
I'm an avid user of technology and software myself and I found it to be tricky adjusting all the settings for fluid emulation.
This is a complex piece of software that is by no means perfect - FAR from it actually with ongoing fixes.
My advice to you is start showing further consideration to newbie users or people that are having difficulty with the program instead of being a smart arse and treat is for what is it...

Don't insult the admins, especially not starscream, as he isn't my least favourite admin (I won't specify my least favourite, as this is rude - something neither of you are quite aware of the area covered by - and I don't want another dose of warning points).

Also this isn't a good thing to go off, as I know downright idiots who can use emulators, yet won't believe that i7 isn't always better then i5 simply because it costs more (so has to be better as intel wouldn't lie to them).

Anyway, like you said: It's really rude to question why someone who has supported Dolphin development more than anyone else on the forums (excluding the Dolphin coders who hang around here). And that's bscly all there is to say about, now stay on topic.

I guess I'll have to explain further. If a person can say to me that the best speeds they're getting in a game with Dolphin is 7FPS, the only explanation for that would be that the person has a weak PC, or, they do not know what they're doing. That's a fact.

I see why you got all bent out of shape about my comment, you fall into that category as well. It's okay, not everyone has a good PC and not everyone knows what they're doing, but those are the reasons for bad results.

I play almost always on Dolphin these days because my wii is dying and I need to get it either fixed/replaced but don't have the money currently

My Wii has a broken GPU (artifacts everywhere) so I always play on Dolphin. At least 90% of the games I want to play work at full speed without hiccups. Most of the others have minor issues or slowdown, very few were downright unplayable due to issues.

I primarily use 3.0, if it's not perfect I try the latest revision and see if it's any better. Sometimes it is.

Fairly off topic:
I have a broken wii and countless unusable games. Money is tight, but the one thing in life I use the most is a computer. It only makes sense that it's a half decent computer.
So, I am saving up. Big time. I sold my lovely two gecko's because keeping them alive was becoming difficult (buying LIVE food imported from accross the world gets expensive).
This lack of money means I can't afford a new Wii. I have binned my old wii and am left with these games.
I could 1) sell it
Or 2) use my computer...
But would you say dolphin is a true substitute?
I've heard particular games are almost impossible to be played even with incredible specs... For example I've heard Hyrule field is incredibly heavy in SS...

I've an i7 860 with 16GB RAM, graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX560 on a 23" monitor. So a good PC but not state of the art. Graphically the res is 1080P in game.

Play Seriously - Yes.
I play SMG at full speed most areas, occasionally frame rates drop to 40 in busy areas of the observatory but nothing that detracts from the gameplay. Rayman Origins runs full speed and looks great.

Dolphin for me looks better than a Wii, I never turn ours on and just play on PC.

What you're talking about sounds like the Dolphin i remember back in 2004 when i was ecstatic about seeing a frame every 7 seconds in Luigi's Mansion (if i got 7fps back then i think i would've had a heart attack).
Okay, general talk now.
We do finish games!!! And luckily, my fav games (the Metroids, mario & wario ones) run smooth (they did so even two years ago on my former 3GHz dual core and 8500GT).
And i'm pretty sure that few years from now even more games (such as the multi dol Metroid Prime trollolology) will run perfectly...
I'd rather have and artifact or two but a sharper image (greater internal resolution+AA and hi-rez textures, whenever the case).

I recommend you read each game's thread (the games you have) and you'll find out all you need in the OP... if the game's unplayable, common issues if playable, or if the game works perfectly. For example Paper Mario TTYD's being emulated perfectly ever since v3.0-202 or something.
