It also affects the CPU to increase IR, believe it or not.
How safe are these options for Metroid Prime GC?

How demanding is AA, does that put strain on the GPU or CPU?

AA only puts strain on the GPU.

Both, and is the second most demanding thing on Dolphin (being the first LLE and the third IR, IMO).
Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.
Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 780/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.

Oh okay, I was thinking maybe putting IR down and having AA at 2x for the most demanding games. My system barely cut it for the game and Im already out of using newer builds, hopefully 1.5x isn't too bad.

Interesting, is my GPU good enough to handle at least 2x without a hit?

Yes. No AA, 2XIR
