I'm saving money for buying a laptop for my study in software engineering next year, and I have also planned to play Dolphin during school breaks, or even, during class, I wonder how long I am able to run the program without any external power source. I will focus playing @ 640p on an ati gpu and pentium dual core. And question #2: could anyone link me a site that involves in international shipping with cheaper laptops with a gpu around $450-680? (Intel GMA sucks) Thanks in Advance.
How long is it possible to play Dolphin on 6-cell Lithium Ion battery (48wh)?

Man, tell me range...
Acer makes some fantastic Sub $1k Laptops. Toshiba launched a new one as well. 09-28-2010, 08:42 AM
That is statistically impossible to say, anyone who gives you an answer has to be lying since we have no way of knowing the exact power consumption.

And if you want to be more economical, either use Acer, but with superior gaming and 1 hr battery. New Toshiba gaming series (i dunno ) are also <$1500. 10-08-2010, 09:07 PM
lol do not buy alienware... especially for battery life. Alienware uses desktop products in laptops, which equals huge voltages and heat issues.
Anyway, I spent 1k on my sony and I play wii games very well. I could probably get 30 minutes playing a game though honestly. I get 3 hours watching DVD but gamecube/wii is just so intense. It's the only thing that pushes my processor past 70C

Gaming laptops are not laptops, they are simply Desktop replacement because of their hot nature and low battery price...
