Hi, I've last used Dolphin a few months ago on my 17" (7741G) notebook. I played games like SSBB, WWSM, THUG1, and NSMB, and noticed that the games play near-smooth in 1x resolution, but seems to not do HD well. I just wanna see what you guys think of the quality of my hardware set.

My specs are the following:
CPU: Intel i5-430m
GPU: ATI Radeon HD5470m
RAM: 6GB DDR3
Revision last used: Developer build that was released on 12/15/2012. (is '3.5' or the newest revision much faster than that one?)

Additionally, how much better would Dolphin perform if I were to have a GeForce GT 650M paired with a i7-3630QM?

I know I'll get better value for the price with a desktop, but I don't have enough room for one.

Hardware is pretty low end. 5470m is about the same level as intel hd 3000 so not good enough for higher than 1x resolution. A 650m is several times better than the hd5470m but as long as you use a laptop you will be making sacrifices.

Ehh, using revs from four or five months ago isn't really ideal. The latest revs have numerous improvements, and there's been a big revamp of the OpenGL backend that might perform better on your hardware. Get the current rev from here: http://dolphin-emu.org/download/ (To carry over your settings and savefiles and everything, just move the User folder from your old Dolphin folder into the new one, replacing the included User folder.)

RAM doesn't provide any speed ups in dolphin. The GT630m can handle 3xIR (1080p) or 4xIR in some. The 3630Qm @ 3.3 should play NSMB at fullspeed on EFB to texture, SSBB will be close to fullspeed, don't know about the other 2.
