How does one use a mouse as a wii pointer thing and still use the normal wii controll

I am trying to play some wii games but then i found that i cannot do that because i am not able to use the pointer. Yes i i tried looking it up but those people are using keyboards and gamepads. So i was wondering is it possible to use the wii mote and mouse at the same time. i am using version 5.0-9277.
