How do I configure my input device in mednafen?

This emulator has no GUI so how do I configure my control pad for it?

By default, you use the F1 key to bring up Mednafen's in-program menu. Run a game, then press F1. I believe you have to press Alt+x (where x represents the controller port number iirc). So most often you'll be pressing Alt+1. It should ask you to start giving inputs.
