How can I use my controller with the emulator?

I've got a controller (from my switch) that I connected to my PC and I want to use it to play in dolphin - Is this possible and if yes how would I make it so dolphin registeres it. I tried different settings in the controllers menu and everything, but I can't seem to get it work. My Computer lists it as "Controller (Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows))" and all inputs are registered normally by my computer so it defenetely has something to do with Dolphin
