Your CPU is just too weak to handle LLE. You should be more lucky with new AX-HLE

Seriously? It never even looks like it's working hard in the slightest.

I know but how do you explain your performance? My old 760, hugely overclocked, could run most games fine with LLE (except the most demanding ones that's why I upgraded Tongue )

I have no idea what an old 760 is, but regardless, I remain pretty surprised. My FX-8150 might not be the most performing one, but it's only a year old, and it's pretty high end, still. It is (well, was, at the moment of purchase) the most performing one in performance per dollar among all high-end ones... and to be honest it has never, ever caused any problem. Video encoding is quite fast ; Skyrim runs quite well on almost maximum settings... Honestly, I'm surprised that of all things, the CPU would be the bottleneck for my computer. Especially if an old one is doing well.

Yes because these are PC applications and PC games so your CPU and your GPU do the job just fine. For Dolphin FX processors are not suitable. Don't misunderstand me. It isn't a criticism. There are a lot of threads about this on the forum

Hmm... Do you happen to have a link for me? I can't seem to find one.

Also, this is somewhat off-topic, but when the game starts looping the same second of play endlessly (a closed curtain and the beginning of the battle music), is there a way, some way, to get out of there? It's happened twice in roughly the same area of the game, and to be honest, it's quite annoying to just load my last save.

Well, a quick Google search of "AMD FX Dolphin Emulator" should bring up a lot of results. Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, and now Haswell CPUs are the preferred microarchitectures for running Dolphin since they have good single-threaded IPC (instructions per cycle) which is what Dolphin relies on a lot. AMD's FX line is better suited for applications that are heavily multithreaded.

Note, you probably can use LLE audio at fullspeed on your machine, depending on the game and whether or not you overclock. For this game, you should be able to use LLE after OCing your CPU.

Additionally, are you still using save states? If so just try saving and loading normally using the emulated memory card.

Nope, I don't use them anymore.

(Except when cheating on slots, ahem!)

Also, I dunno if I should be overclocking. I don't have the stock CPU cooler, but what I have is certainly not a super duper high-quality one. It was 15 $ with a discount. I'm scared.

As long as your temps are okay and your voltage isn't too high, overclocking is pretty safe, more or less. Use CoreTemp to monitor your CPU temps, and overclock in increments.

You could also try the VBeam trick, which can let you run LLE audio at fullspeed even if your CPU can't run the game fullspeed. It works for some people, but not for everyone in every game. There are several way you can use the VBeam trick:

1) Enable VBeam Speed Hack (Accurate VBeam Emulation in older builds)
1) Enable VBeam Speed Hack and Disable Idle Skipping
3) Disable Idle Skipping

It might work, might not work, but it's worth a shot if you can't OC.

I'm having a similar problem. I just started the game, and when I was in the first "room" where you first arrive in Rogueport, everything was running fine. After I beat Crump and moved on to the square with the gallows, shops, etc., the music and sound started messing up. I've tried HLE and both LLE options and all three backends, and the problem persists. I can record and upload a sample of what it sounds like if that would help. Not trying to hijack the thread or anything, just figured posting here was better than making another thread for the same game.
