So at the moment I have the Pocophone F1 and whenever the F2 comes out or another phone with the snapdragon 855 processor do you think the performance would be much better than the 845? Because the 845 struggles with Wii games
How big of a jump in performance would the snapdragon 855 have over the 845

This is coming from the One Plus 6 to the S10. It of course may vary by phone model. I believe thermals might be the issue here. 05-04-2019, 03:29 AM
Thermals are a bigger problem with the S855 CPU cluster. On a hypothetically perfect phone body, you would see serious improvement. But with the S10 Anandtech found sustained performance to hover around S845 levels, hence the lack of improvement.

This is the article that was meant to be the answer for Your had asked question.
https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi...-emulator/ Now seriously, any laptop and any mobile phone have its own cooling system, with different characteristics. Its a vendor/producer responsibility to make a device that can make the cpu cool enough to stay at top performance. We do not know how F2 will be constructed and how heat be handled by cooling system. Any way, standalone 855 is a an improvement. 05-04-2019, 07:42 AM

But without active cooling (read: Fans) a phone chassis will always be limited by the skin temperature and surface area. No buzzword-filled magic can get past that limit. And for my pixel3 (sd845) I can tell you the whole phone gets /hot/ when under sustained serious use - only efficiency improvements for the SoC implementation can help that, and it looks like the 855 doesn't really do much in that area. 05-04-2019, 02:34 PM
Yaa agreed....Themal is a bigger problem with S855 CPU.I hope there is a improvement in next version.nd i m sure it will be improved

Really? Thermal is still an issue even with the 855's smaller 7nm dye process? Interesting. I guess one can only get so far with passive cooling.

Because the 845 struggles with Wii games I am coming from the Xiaomi 8 (S845). This might just be my personal experience but I feel like the Snapdragon 855 is playing games at a higher frame rate and much more fluently than the Xiaomi 8 did. For example I can now play Starfox adventures which wasn't possible on the Xiaomi 8. This might also be due to a newer Dolphin version I am using now. Off topic I also tried Morrowind and Doom 3. Especially Morrowind runs beautifully on this phone. *Edit* Forgot to mention that I think the CPU improvement is probably much bigger than the GPU improvement. Especially when using vector based offline maps such as Locus Maps, I get much less lag and a smoother experience with the S10+. Cheers
Long time Mobile Emulator freak. Used to be very active on pspupdates...Good old times.
