What exactly does this change in the games? I haven't really noticed a huge difference, if at all. Or maybe I'm looking at the wrong things.

that option is for loading (replacing) your own textures into the game.

My Specs: AMD Phenom II x4 940 3.0ghz - w7/Ubuntu 11.04
