Unfortunately I think you are right. I tried enabling OpenMP hoping that would solve the issue, as I thought I was only running off one CPU core, but I still have the same lag as when OpenMP was disabled. The game will drop FPS when text bubbles come up, and loading screens (i.e. selecting stars, and when Mario is blasted into a galaxy). I think I'm going to just stick with 4x IR, 16x AF for now, as even when I enable 2x AA the game will slowdown occassionally (likely my 6970 bottlenecking me). The game looks darn good w/ those settings already. I'll try out some other high-res texture packs on some different releases (Twilight Princess, RE4) in the next couple of days and see if I have any better results.
