Hey there's only one game I'd like to play and I just want to know if my laptop would be able to run it before I get my hopes up, any reply would be greatly appreciated!
I'm hoping to play Gauntlet Legends: Dark Legacy and the specs of my laptop areeeee...
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i3-2310M Processor ( 2.10GHz 1333MHz 3MB ),
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6550M 1GB, and 8gb of RAM...
So what do you think? :-\

It will likely run OK, I'm not sure how heavy that particular game is but with that clock rate I would expect slowdowns in certain areas.

Would an i5 running at 2.3ghz with turbo boost available run any differently?
I think i might return this one i just bought and go ahead and pay $120 more for the i5, would it be worth it? Performance and graphics wise, what do you think?

i5 is far better than that i3 as long as it pairs with a decent GPU (Nvidia GT 540M, Ati 6650m)
i5 2410m @ 2.7Ghz (2 core) http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i5/Intel-Core%20i5%20Mobile%20I5-2410M.html
i3 2310m = hopeless

Since the OP decided to PM me I'll post my reply here as well.

Quote:It's pretty simple to calculate. They are both the same chip just clocked at different frequencies so all you have to do is (100/2.1) * 2.3 = 109.5%. In other words the 2.3GHz chip is clocked 9.5% higher so it will perform 9.5% better.

You won't notice the difference between the two. GC games will run ok and wii games will run poorly on both.

However in my PM I forgot that i5s have turbo boost since he just said 2.3GHz and made no mention of the turbo boost frequencies.

Without turbo boost that's a 9.5% increase. With turbo boost on two cores that's a maximum increase of 27%.

2.7GHz with turbo boost is still not enough to run the heavier wii games at fullspeed. As for whether it's worth it or not that depends on how much of a price increase $120 is (I don't know how much the laptop costs initially).
