I'm going to need a portable mini PC, and I've narrowed it to these two options:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07411485F/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504510994&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=alienware+alpha+i7&psc=1

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883152220&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwordsCA&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwordsCA-_-DSA-_-CategoryPages-_-NA&gclid=CjwKCAjw87PNBRBAEiwA0XAIr9sq30fNYmPz1cauoVzgtsiyw6xa6H7btdhBs9Fbl4tVn9Fu4rw28xoCkQYQAvD_BwE

I'm a bit weary of laptops, as I've heard desktops are always better for emulation. But if this isn't true, I'd consider getting one.
Thanks!

I´d say both of them are good enough for Dolphin (actually overkill), but the MSI one is more future-proof (as the CPU it has is from 7th and latest generation instead of 6th).

Also, the MSI one has more storage installed (1 TB HDD + 256 GB SSD instead of just 512 GB SSD) and a newer and stronger GPU.
Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.

Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 780/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.

The 6700T is the 'lower power' version too, so the 7700 should be quite a bit faster...

Only thing holding me back is that I've seen a crapload of people say that their MSI trident has stopped turning on after a few months of use due to a faulty motherboard.
This is a huge concern for me, and I don't wanna have to get the thing repaired or whatever...

tbf I have heard stories of quality control issues on MSI prebuilts. Their system components are solid, but I guess their laptops and desktops aren't?

If your that worried about the MSI prebuilt then

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883221345

Similar hardware to the MSI, but keep in mind that it is going to be a bit louder then a bigger setup under load with higher temps and the amount of upgradeability is compromised in these Mini PC prebuilts.
