Hello there, glad to join this community. I have always liked metroid games, so when I knew that it was 100% emulated with dolphin I wasted no time Smile

Well, the game is unplayable for me, from the very first scene where the ship lands the game runs at mere 10 fps or even lower. It only speeds up to 60fps on parts where the are not a lot of objects.

Before I decided to post this thread, I made sure I read the dolphin starters guide, the set up guide, the "how to speed up your games" thread, I got no improvements. What is really frustrating is that my PC should be able to handle the game with flying colors, here are my PC's specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 over clocked at 2800ghz
Radeon HD 4650
4 gig RAM
Windows Vista 64
Realtek HD integrated Audio

Thank you in advance.

Sugetsu.

set Copy EFB to texture, that should speed you up immensely. also why do you have safe texture cache on? did you get that from the official game thread? if you don't need it, don't anable it.

and disable "use real xfb" and "native" and set an awesome resolution just for the lulz.

also try a newer build since its got amazing fixes.
My Specs: AMD Phenom II x4 940 3.0ghz - w7/Ubuntu 11.04

Nothing changes, the intro with the ship landing is only at 8fps max. To be a little more descriptive, when I get to move Samus around I get 8 FPS when I am facing the space station, but when I am facing my ship I get 60fps. It is just like that the whole time.

I thought I was using the latest build.

So anyone has any logic explanation to why I can't play metroid? I am tempted to say that I would not be able to emulate any other game for that instance.

Thanks.

well, metroid has always run about that slow for me, but Mario Kart runs at 50-55 fps.

So it really depends on the game.

What are your system specs, are they better than mine?

Set frame skipping to 3. Still very playable.

Where is that frame skipping option? Can't find it anywhere.

Edit: I finally got it the emulator to work. Turns out the guide on how to get started dolphin is a little outdated. OpenGL was the problem. I switched to Direct3D and now I can play with graphic settings on max, with only the occasional 18fps drop.

Thank you all for your help never the less.

PS. By the way, the audio is a little weak, is there anything I can do to improve audio quality?
