Haha, whatever. You're not flooding anything. The more people giving input, the better we can make everything look. And it's not like you haven't been contributing either (textures and input), so you get your say.
Hell, I barely submit any new textures and I never shut up. I wish I had the talent you guys do for making stuff look good. All I can really do is take existing stuff and manipulate it to fit my purposes. And even then stuff ends up sloppy. I'm always having cool people with mad skills swoop in to save me. I'll put the main example below in the thumbnails. The first image is my crappy try at a texture (hand drawn over the top of the original blown up texture), and the second is after poweredbykimchi got his hands on my texture.
If you mean the shadows and such that should be easy to clean up.
...but for now, back to those gray boxes. So in the simplest of words, the gem crafting + gifting are the 64x64 ones, and the heart 2 heart is the 32x32 40x40? 04-26-2014, 05:23 AM

Right on the dark gray 64x64 ones.
The 40x40 light gray boxes are the background boxes for the gray gems. (Which seem to be replaced occasionally with the retexture included in thumbnails of that post. I don't know what texture the heart 2 heart screen uses, I was just showing how things didn't fit right.
Ok so lets do this then....
40x40 = SX4P01_b1f34db8_9.png And.... 64x64 = SX4P01_1ce953f5_9.png My head hurts. Also... SX4P01_27dc5291_2.png = Heart2Heart. I'll try to fix it so it fits. Edit: Actually, just deleting "SX4P01_27dc5291_2.png" fixes it. It doesn't really need to be retextured. I think someone tried to get fancy and it just looks worse. The only way I can think to actually make something that might be nicer is just to feather the edges a bit. Edit Again.... It doesn't fix it, its just as bad. I just assumed it did because I overwrote the texture with a complete white block, which looks better than the default/current texture. Final Edit, texture as attachment. Simple edits are the best edits. It's just a white block. 04-26-2014, 06:34 AM
Okay, I put the white block in as well as a couple other textures for my next backtracking jaunt.
I'm going to wait to change the gray box textures until I get done backtracking and then I'm doing one huge batch. 04-26-2014, 06:50 AM
I just saw your Reyn weapon icon. The remake by poweredbykimchi didn't make it into the last texture pack, I didn't even know it existed. I do recall seeing an early rendition of it though (probably the first one in your post), but never the finished version. I was actually considering trying to retexture the items at some point, this gives me something to go by.

Yeah, it's pretty lol-worthy. But yeah, there's a TON of weapons/armors. I don't know if you have it, but I had a "Dump" back in the post with my huge dump a while back. Has all the weapon/armor textures in the game in it.
Actually here's the link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/a79160...URES_-.rar It also has some other stuff in it. I think it actually has a few affinity bars that you didn't get retextured yet. Four, by my count. All the angry red faces. Also has some city affinity textures, both the pop-up versions and the affinity screen versions. Anyway, I just spent my lunch scrolling through my huge ass dump backup folder. I found some cool stuff maybe we can work on at some point. Mostly simple box stuff, and I don't think they're repeating IDs. So it should be quick to check. I need to verify some stuff before I post them though. Edit: Okay, here's some of what I found earlier. I have some non-box related activities saved for later, but I'll need to finish the game (not duplicating textures, but a set of textures that I need to play through the entire game to get). Anyway, this pic: The first three boxes are from the collectopaedia screen, and should be easy to do. They would take me a bit, but I'm sure you can whip something up super fast. There also appears to be varying opacity, which would just confuse me. The fourth texture is from the party screen when you select a gem socket. It's the menu that pops up to let you choose a gem from. The fifth texture is from the gem crafting screen. It's the bar that goes across the top that shows which gems you have selected for combining. So, whenever you (or someone) gets a little bit of time and wants to edit some boxes, there you go. There is a similar texture to the 4th and 5th texture located in your UI-Miscellaneous folder. I'm not sure how it lines up, but it might be a quick shortcut. http://www.mediafire.com/download/b9zcvf.../Boxes.zip UGH EDIT: So I was using my gem crafting reset IDs trick in Night/Day/Thunderstorm/etc. in the colony 9 -> Colony 6 areas. Pulled about 2400 new textures in about an hour lol. So... many textures. I'm up to like 33,000 retextures and I haven't even entered Eryth Sea yet. Ridiculous.
Not sure how you'll feel about this, but I tried to go for bars that somewhat matched the UI instead of the wooden look of the originals.

I think they look great. I'm going to put them in when I do this huge batch, I'm sure they'll be a huge improvement over that grainy garbage default look. I think it was a good call to make them brown, they match a lot better. I was actually going to mention that when I posted, but forgot. So good thing you did it anyway.
Also, I may have discovered an infinite loop of IDs. Which is bad, because that means there's literally an infinite amount of repeating textures. I'm just sitting here in one spot without reloading, and I've dumped about 30-40 completely brand new sets of IDs in a row. Strangely it only appears to effect submenu IDs, and not the main menu palette. 1) Craft a gem, click finish (requires mobile gem thing) 2) After clicking finish, immediately check (don't exit menu palette) collectopaedia for new IDs a) If new set, check all the other menus IDs b) If no new set, skip to step 3 3) exit menu palette and immediately re-open palette 4) check collectopaedia for new set a) If new set, check all the other menus IDs b) If no new set, skip to step 5 5) Craft another gem, click finish 6) repeat steps 2-5 That gives me brand new submenu textures infinitely, or so it appears. The trick is to not load/reload the game. So, I dont know if I just discovered some weird looping thing that lasts forever, or if I tapped into some huge well of uncommon IDs that are rarely accessed. I did a pretty thorough job last year dumping IDs, so it's strange to not run into retextured arts/skilltree portraits, skill tree branches, etc after dumping so many different sets of IDs. Edit: Okay, about 3 or 4 cycles after I posted that I finally went about 5 or 6 cycles without generating a new ID. So apparently it's not infinite. I'm reloading my last save, and going to try again. If I don't generate any new IDs then I may have just found a good way to generate IDs for an entire area without having to constantly save/reload. We'll see if that loop is based on saving/loading or if I actually just got all of the IDs from the area in well fell swoop. Edit again: Okay, so I reloaded into Colony 9 and the "loop" wasn't nearly as effective. So I think it's just an untapped well of IDs, not infinite. I'm trying the same process in Tephra and it seems to be working here again. |
