Good idea. Removed the old version. Take your time, I'm going to be heading to bed too.

Is it possible to change those effects to anything, or does it have to be lightning? Also, is it possible to change the colors of the beams? I haven't had much time to mess around with it. Haven't tried changing the lightning yet. I'm not sure if that lightning spark thing uses a mask or not. I think you can, just don't expect it to turn out good ![]() You can change the beam color, but there's just one thing. It's kinda hard to explain and I'm too lazy to screenshot. Nothing serious, just a visual effect thing. Basically, the monado has this "additional thing" attached to it when it's swung, something like a saber trail. This saber trail is white color and it only appears when the monado is swung. So if you change the beam to say.. pure red color, when Shulk swings the monado the saber trail effect(white colored stick) will be added on top of that pure red beam, but then after the monado is back to its original position, that white stick suddenly disappears. This isn't visible in default beam, because the default one has a white light in the middle with bluish glow surrounding it. ![]() TL;DR: For visual purpose(especially if you have OCD), change only the surrounding glow, but leave the middle part of the beam alone. Or better yet, don't change anything at all ![]() Edit: Added another useless Monado recolor and repacked the Monado Download Monado Download Monado Blaze-R Monado [color=#C2C2C2: (Show Spoiler)

Now have fun playing as an Evil Jedi and slaying all the
Lol dude you're giving me way too many options, they all look sick I dunno which one to use! I really love both of those, but I think I may end up playing with the Blaze-R one for awhile because that is badass. Red is my favorite color, and when I saw that beam I was sold. Although, I'll probably end up switching between them constantly like I've been doing with your other ones.

My very first icon was this thing, I was surprised nobody else did it up to that point.![]() Every time I seen it on a climbable wall it screamed "I need retextured!". So I gave it a shot and that was the result. That was my first try with an airbrush, I sucked. I could probably make it much better now, but in game it still looks good so it's a low priority. 04-29-2014, 10:19 PM

At first I thought, "Nah this black one's gonna be lame." Then I tried it, together with the red beam and I was like "whoa, this is badass" especially since I saw it during the Monado I->Monado II scene ![]() But I already fell in love with Monado

That's why they were like the only non-inventory item in my "Dumps that need to be retextured ASAP" pack I uploaded with my huge dump before. :p I spent about 3 hours in photoshop last night trying to do a couple things, failed hard. Then I watched a few tutorial videos and got a few good ideas and learned a few tricks. I'm hoping that I can put them to good use. Although I don't want to get too distracted from dumping, however it's not reay a waste since these simple UI elements need to be done or my OCD is going to kill me. It's a fun way to break up the monotony of just walking around loading all the menus over and over and over. :p The problem is that when I spend hours in PS and don't do anything worthwhile, I feel like the time would've been better spent dumping. But the red/black is bad ass too. I have couple questions about how you want these to go into the pack though. I have your blue beams from earlier. Is your new "cool" blue beam and your old modded blue beam the same? The older version I have of the smooth beam is different than the new one. Should I just delete the old one? Or should I name it something else to avoid confusion and leave it in as an option? I want to include your old textures as well, especially since they are the only Monado I retextures. Should I pack them with a beam? 04-30-2014, 12:37 AM
@frozenwings
Ah yeah, there were several beam files 'coz I'm still in the middle of testing(especially thanks to that white stick trail effect -_-). It's only noticeable for about a split second, but it kinda ruins it for me. About the pack, I think for these 2 new ones; Monado . But for the earlier ones, I think the beam should be separated so people can choose what they want. And a bit unrelated, but I wish we could make something like.. "NG++ Stuffs folder: This folder unlocks after you clear the game 3 times." Man, that'd be awesome

Okay, I'll try to come up with the least confusing way to organize them.
Also, if I could make a suggestion: since all Monados appear to use the same texture for beams, lightning, and the little orbs, the red stuff doesn't match right with the Monado I cartoon version you made (and default one as well), and looks decent with the silver Monado I. Perhaps if you get time you can make a black/red Monado I so people can put both in at the start of the game and playthrough without have to change textures out all the time. The wii is different since it utilizes the same color beam stuff as the regular Monado, so I'm not so... picky I guess about that one. However, if you don't have time or prefer to work on something else, I'm not the boss :p. Just more or less suggestions. We could probably have the Blaze-R folder contain both the Monado I and Monado II textures so they match, same with the silver in with the Wii. (Or you could even put the blue "glowing light" effect from your Wii Monado II onto your Silver Monado I and call it Monado WI or something. That why people can have complete sets of Monados/beams. And for purists, we can have a separate folder for your original cartoon Monados.
I do have time, but to be honest I'm just lazy
.It's easier to just swap the files out for me ![]() Can't we just put a .txt instructions? So we put default Monado I and II textures(including beam effects etc) into "Original Monado I" and "Original Monado II" respectively. Then we have several different folders for Cartoon Monado I, II and the rest. Btw, this is the visual problem I mentioned(still happening now -_-, I thought I had it covered): http://makeagif.com/i/taxUrz ^See that the trail is longer than the beam. Edit: Derp.. turns out it happens in the original as well. Oh well, it still ruins it for me but at least now I know it isn't my fault.

That's understandable, maybe if I get better at photoshop I'll try my hand at a black/red one. (Although I have a ways to go before that, but it's a possibility)
The problem is that people aren't going to be as savvy as we are with how the textures work and aren't going to go back and forth adding/deleting files from their folders. Most people are going to go through in the optional textures, then toss them in at the start and never change them. So they're going to end up with like a regular monado with a red beam and your wii version with a red beam. Or the regular monado with the blue beam and your black/red monado with a blue beam and then they'll get all confused and irritated... I know because I've downloaded optional texture packs for things before and screwed things up. The set thing is more or less to avoid irritation. For now I'll just put a note that one set of monado beams replaces both (all?) monado beams. However, I don't blame you. I'm having a hard enough time trying to make simple boxes and arrows for the UI, so I can't even imagine what it must be like retexturing those confusing looking monado textures. 04-30-2014, 01:21 AM
Very, very true >_<.
It's ugly but that's just how most people are ![]() The best idea I can come up with is to make a very very large text, "WARNING: Do not install unless you know what you're doing. We won't be held responsible, yada yada.." Otherwise I can imagine they'd probably just come to this thread to report problem.. or complain or maybe think "Who's the ***thead that made that stupid Monado modification!?" To be honest a recolor of Monado I is easy. It's just that I'm not really ok with the idea, for some reason, I don't know why. I guess I just want the Monado II to remain special. |
