Are we talking about the same things? There are two different story related borders. The "large borders" that are actually the borders that pop up when a story related quest finishes. I got all of those so far.

Then there are the regular small borders for they story memo that you access from the menu palette, the one that gives you a hit at where to go in case you're lost. I don't know what button is used to access it on the wiimote, but it's the right trigger for my xbox controller. Anyway, there are a repeating IDs for each screen just like every other menu palette/submenu texture, so if you've been dumping those we're good. If not, we may never come close to getting them all because it's going to be a pain.

Okay, sounds good.

Edit:

Ok so after much contemplation, the middle skill book is too dark. So editing, mixing, and matching, how is this?

I'm confused now. I thought we were going with the new icons attached to this post? Did you just use the wrong texture and then screenshot and submit it without noticing?

Oh I see what you mean, yeah I got that mixed up with the quest ones.

Ok so... Im having difficulties deciding... Personally I lean more towards 1, but 1, 2, or 3 (or insert 4)?

Also... the story quest borders may share the same ID with all story quests. Like if you go back to Colony 9, no matter what story quest you are on it might all use the same ID pool. Unless you already discovered otherwise and I missed it.

All that up there. ^^ I'm uncertain myself. Tongue

Oh I think he's doing much better than me. His icons are definitely harder to make, in my opinion!

Anyway, Bighead, maybe you could add a drop shadow to the original icons instead of blurring the edges. drop shadows can work as an... anti aliasing of sorts, I've used them like that a lot to get rid of jaggies that appear in-game.

Normal

With a bit of shadows at an angle (if you leave the distance to zero, it can be used as an even outer shadow effect)

Edit: This tread sure moves fast sometimes. I think I prefer the second image, with the 3 different skill icons and the darker middle one. So 2 or 1 for me. They all look good, of course.

And I think the story quest borders actually do use the same ids all the time. I was playing new game and they showed up for the 2 or 3 story quest pop-ups I saw. Not certain though.

Edit2: OK, I'm clearly not thinking straight. Fixed a typo lol

Hi, I have SX4P01 version, but I use Italian language. As conseguence, many texture name don't match. There is a simple way to rename some texture? I manually change names for bootstrap, main xenoblade logo and some other, but the work is veeeeeery long. Thanks

I'll give that a try and see how it turns out. The monado icon was the worst of all, without the blur it was really jagged.

There isn't. Dolphin dumps the same texture over and over and over again, and it's a tremendous amount of work to find all the different IDs for textures.

Edit: Oh you mean changing Dolphin language? I got confused with in-game, theres only eng and jap. That should have no effect from my tests. You have to uncheck/check "load custom textures" box to refresh everything while the game is running. Try that and let me know if it works.

I like 2 the best. I love the new icons. I don't think the middle icon in 1 fits with the outer two icons.

Okay. This is going to get confusing. If you're referring to story quests borders as in the 'large borders", then I'm not sure how they work. I've loaded/reloaded a few times at each story event and sometimes I get new IDs and sometimes I don't.

If you're referring to the story memo borders, then they probably work the same as any other menu ID. Which means that different areas have different IDs, but CAN share between areas. I have lots of theories, but no proof.

You understand the first time. A use 30fps pal iso, but in italian (pal iso is multi5 I think). Some HD texts are missing (and it's ok, in the pack there are only ENG and SPA hd texts) but some graphical texture has different name. My work for now is manually dump texture -> find dumped texture and copy the name -> find HD matching texture -> rename HD matching texture -> test.

Yeah sorry story MEMO borders doh. My brain is a jar of jelly today.. I think it's messing with these arts books for so long and not being satisfied with anything I'm getting simple things mixed up. I preferred 1 because the original book was more of a light gray than 2, but either works for me. 2 it is. Here's the final icons.

Oh I see, yeah we have nobody dumping other languages. Sucks that Dolphin is giving different IDs.... If you want, as you play through the game you can share your dumps with either me or frozen on this forum. I have a script that filters out textures that need to be renamed. We are working this at the moment. If you want to help, I am including the script in this attachment. It is called "FilterDumps". You can edit it to change the paths. Run it from Desktop, and it will create a "FILTERED" folder on your desktop with important textures. Then upload that dumps folder to me or frozen.

So far this script only dumps repeatable textures, not logos or other stuff. You may have to filter that out yourself. Also, plz send those IDs as well so we can add them to the pack.

By overlay, I didn't mean an overlay at all. I meant a simple, even outer shadow. This is what happens when you don't stay focused, hahaha.

But yeah, try it out and see if it works for you. If not, then hey, they still look amazing to me.

Edit: Gogetas, do you mean changing the actual text inside the image (things like "story memo" "level up", etc.)? For that, you'd have to get Alekzanderk's psds (which are hopefully still around) and change the text with Gimp or Photoshop. That's the easiest way to do it, and it's how I made the english text before.

Is there an option to change the language of the text in game? Or is it based off of the main Dolphin settings?

I haven't messed around with it too much, but I'm not sure how the IDs work when changing the written language. I can check it out later when I get a bit of time, but yeah, it sounds like it's not loading the same IDs as the english text.
