You know what, I don't think it does. I've had rumble off for the longest time. I turned it on, it rumbles in the wii menu, but nowhere in the game.

The... side-bangs/hair (I don't know what it's called) is what's causing the problem.
This is mostly going to be a problem for characters that have long hair.
I had the patience to align the hair when I was working on Alvis, but Sharla just has lots of hair parts (3 on left and right, a few more at the back of her hair).
Yeah I figured, but I don't understand why when I completely wiped out the image to transparency I still see hair? It has me confused...

It must be something with Dolphin, it's definitely gotta be just one texture. I tried another experiment, made the entire texture a toxic pink, loaded state, made it transparent, loaded state, and this is what happened.

Hm, are you sure it's transparent? Because if you're using photoshop, and accidentally lock the layer when saving, the transparency will be lost, and the image goes back to white. If the texture really is wiped to transparent, then Sharla shouldn't have any hair at all in game.

Edit: Ah I see now. Even if you wipe the hair texture to transparent, if you don't erase the hair mask(another separate texture file), the hair won't disappear. Instead it will be shown as white(or whatever is inside the hair mask texture).

Yep I'm positive it's transparent and it shows up white except the top of her head. This happened even after completely reloading the emulator. But if I make changes to the texture and reload, it does show up on the top of head. If I go back to pure transparency, it will still show the old change instead of normal hair. It's far too confusing for me...

Edit: Ok that makes sense somewhat. Tongue

This is the method I used before with Alvis.

Marking the hair to find out which part goes where, then slowly align it..
But it's seriously too tiring Undecided

Okay, I figured out my own thing then.

First off, I'll be making a couple references to this pic:

These are the 5 hair files included for Shulk in Narcku's pack, as well as in the pack you gave me, Bighead. The three red boxed textures are all identical, and the green box texture is different. Obviously the last texture is Shulk's "hair flap" (which looks blurry by comparison to the other textures).

Now here is another screen shot. As labeled (poorly), Shulk head on the right is a pic when I have those 5 files loaded into my game as is (as downloaded). The central (or left, I guess) Shulk is with the 3 red boxed textures all replaced with the green. As you can see, with the textures all replaced, Shulk's hair is a little more golden-yellow as compared to the golden-white of the default setup. Hair flap is untouched for comparison.

And finally, a third pic, with the 3 red boxed textures just colored black.

So, this tells me a couple things"

First, Shulk has two different files that effect his hair. The regular "main part" and then the flappy part or whatever on top, which I didn't touch throughout this experiment.

Second, it appears that there are multiple instances of the one hair texture, similar to the other repeating textures. Unless I'm misunderstanding something. I don't know quite understand why out of the 4 "identical" hair IDs, 3 of them (red boxed) are using one texture and a 4th (green box) is using a different one. Maybe someone could enlighten me. Also, I'm not sure why the hair flap looks so blurry compared to the rest. Looking at Narcku's screenshots, the hair on his Shulk looks a lot better than the one on mine.

Edit again: Maybe I just need to find the ID for my current Shulk. What a pain. I wonder how many there are for hair textures.

Sorry, that was my fault, the green boxed one should actually be removed/replaced with the red ones. That was the old hair file I forgot to remove(or better to just replace it, since it's another duplicated ID).

Jeez.. That's a lot of effort just to make a hair texture, its like solving a rubik's cube. Still that's a pretty interesting process you are using, wrapping it onto a model external from the game. I used to mess around with 3DS Max about a year ago, ripping models from WoW and using them in an SC2 map. I never got good with it, never tried to edit models other than throw on new textures and restore the old ones, and I never did understand how certain textures wrapped onto a model. It's definitely something I want to learn in time.

Are you sure? The green one looks way better to me. Way more sharp and defined. I'll add thumbnails.

Edit: I just found another ID for Shulk's hair, the first one I've seen. Yeah, the red box one is still a huge upgrade. I can see why you chose it now, a lot more close to the default hair in terms of color.

Yeah, luckily Sharla and Dunban's hair don't look too bad, even without mods.
I guess I'm just gonna settle with this until someone as good as Red_Schism comes back to mod.

Edit:
@frozenwings
Yeah, the red one looks better in-game(at least for me). But feel free to use that one too.

Yeah, I agree with you now after checking out in-game. I actually found a couple default hair textures in my dump folder, so I'm going to start adding them to my batches when I retexture if that's okay.

Edit:

Narcku, do you still have the base texture from your dump folder for Shulk's "hair flap" part?

Edit 2: I'm really digging your "Cartoon" Monados. I haven't got to the Monado II yet in my current game, so I haven't seen it in game. The Monado I is brilliant though. Gives it an otherworldly feel.
