I've just finished doing a retexture of the Colony 9 map. The same texture is used for both the map screen and the minimap, PAL filenames are SX4P01_531ec864_2.png and SX4P01_66f20319_2.png. I plan to do the rest of the maps too.

HD versions of the main menu Map and Inventory icons:


       


For the Inventory icon, I combined two icons that were already in the HD texture pack and added a tint.

Awesome. You don't know how many times I tried to redo those icons, and they looked terrible. Your versions are much better.

Edit: I batched all the images for the two new icons you made. If you plan on doing the other three, I'll wait to upload until you are finished so I can do them all at once.

I finished the Gem Crafting and Collectopaedia icons. The Items icon shouldn't take long to do. I'll upload all 3 when I'm done.

For the Gem Crafting icon, I took a screenshot of the Gem Crafting screen, erased the background, and scaled it down to a reasonable size.

I took the same approach for the Collectopaedia, but I had to do some trimming & shifting to change it from a long rectangle to almost square. I pasted in larger corner knobs from another texture and tinted them yellow to make it more like the original icon.

The Items icon was easy, just draw outlines and fill it in, then 'airbrush' in some shadows.

Wow, that gem crafting icon..... speechless. So impressive.

I'm going to batch these right now. I'm going to update my icon pack since there were a couple confusing things that I need to fix anyway. I would like to include your icons if that's okay. I will give credit, of course.

Edit: The gem crafting icon is a little too big for the canvas, it doesn't really fit in the tile in the menu screen. So I increased the canvas size by 20%. Everything is batched up, going to compress it then upload the updated pack either tonight or tomorrow.

Yes, if you're pasting them into a template file, you'll have to resize the template to match the dimensions I used. The Inventory icon is 140x140 because it's a modified version of the Advanced Skill Book icon that someone else posted. The Collectopaedia icon is 170x170 because the original was 34x34 and I scaled it to 500% for a template. The other three are 200x200, though I could've made them smaller. I tried to keep the amount of empty space around the icons the same as in the originals.

Did you say you have a batch script for copying & renaming the retexture files to all the right filenames? I'd appreciate a copy, if you don't mind. I used an app to identify all the duplicates in mesiahgov's texture dump, and wrote a couple of scripts based on the report: one to rename and reorganize them, deleting all the duplicates, another to do the same with the v4.1U User's Pack, and a third to reverse the process to prep the retextures for Dolphin. And I'm slowly trying to group similar textures, like Nopon clothing, or bikini tops, or wooden crates, so it's easier to find a particular pattern and to see where work can be saved by retexturing once and then changing the colors to make all the variations. But mesiahgov didn't catch ALL the textures, so my scripts don't have all the filenames for each texture. If you have a batch renaming script, I could use it to update my own scripts.

Okay, here is v2 of the XbC Package.
-I removed the icon dump folder and put it in it's own rar, so everything in the two "package.rar" files is retextured.
-Thanks to Flanqer, the main menu icons are all done. Thanks to his work, my ocd levels have diminished greatly.
-I've also restructured the folders so hopefully it is easier to get around.
-There are a couple fixes to textures included in the first pack, so make sure to copy all of the files from v2 and overwrite the old stuff.

This pack still requires the 4.1U Texture Pack from the front page.

The files in this pack are separated into sub-folders for organizational purposes. Please remember that Dolphin can have some conflicts with sub-folders in certain situations so it's best to copy all of the image files to the SX4P01 main directory.

**Note that the rar files are two individual files, unlike the first version. Mediafire only allows me to put up files under 200MB, and they can't be a split rar. So make sure you unrar both files individually to get everything.**


Here are the remaining icons I dumped that still need to be done, should someone feel ambitious. Mostly icons from the item screen, a few others. I would consider them pretty low priority so if you're actually reading this and are currently retexturing other stuff, I wouldn't worry about it unless you REALLY want some HD item icons.

Flanqer, I use a batch process in gimp that allows me to upload X amount of files. I can then use the script to edit the canvas size, delete the original image, then add a "watermark" (the image I want) and apply those settings to all of the uploaded files at once.

It's really only useful for batch renaming (I suppose it's more like batch editing) textures that have multiple IDs for the same texture, like the 400 something quest menu IDs that use the same texture, or the nearly 200 main menu IDs that use the same one. It can't do anything complicated like replace 100 different files each with their own unique texture. If this is a feature you're looking for, then it's an add-on for GIMP called BIMP.

Flanqer Thanks for map - its awesome - i add little blur (for reduce pixel ladders) and re-scale it in 2k size "(2048) square" for my self

I think recreate map will be much easier and faster by "vector tools" in image editors like photoshop - thanks for map again : ]

poweredbykimchi Well.. its hard to explain - mostly I did a lot of random photo manipulations on different layers
something like this - (it is one of ways to create textures for the game)

Also i add one detail for more "metal" feel - and save texture in DDS format (it worked and save A LOT (x3) of memory)
