I have one problem with the PS3 controller textures - it looks like the X button is assigned to where 'a' would be on the classic controller. Is it assumed that the player switched the controls for those buttons? Maybe Layberneth plays that way, I dunno - I like the default controls Smile

I know the obvious answer is to just rename the textures, which I have done. But there appear to be two textures in the folder (SX4P01_3399a439_8.png and SX4P01_8905c312_9.png) that don't have any equivalents of the other buttons. One is the X button at an angle, and the other is a larger O button texture.

Does anyone know where these are used, or if they're even important?

Edit: The larger circle button is seen at the start of combat in the middle of the screen, and the oblong X button is used to advance dialog. If I were to make replacements for these, would anyone be interested in me posting them here?

Also, is there any texture pack for just the Classic Controller button layout that I may have missed? That might be nice to fall back on.
Not too sure what you're asking, but xbox360 + PS3 controllers are supposed to be used with the classic controller set up.

And yes post them.

There is no texture pack just for the classic controller button layout yet.

It should slow down at first when you load them up (probably depends on your computer). After that, it shouldn't slow down. Maybe occasionally it'll slow down, but at least on my computer, the textures haven't affected the speed of the game.

That said, this may sound sort of like a needy question but I see a ton of progress since Rev. 4.1U back in September 2012. Has there been a new pack compiled since then that I am somehow missing, or is this project becoming more of a "pet" project for individual texture uploads?

Don't get me wrong, I'm fine either way. I saw some pretty amazing armor and weapon updates some pages back and I would love the chance to play the game with them. With my limited artistic ability I'm at a loss to upgrade any on my own.

Thanks again!
Big Grin
I'm okay with these questions. There hasn't been an update in awhile because a lot of the people that used to work on this don't work on it anymore for various reasons, and I've been busy with my own stuff.

A few pages ago I posted a two part rar that contained most of the uploads made since the 4.1 release in addition to my own dumps/retextures. It's not really anything official, and is a little more complex to install than the official pack although still pretty easy. It's organized mostly so people can pick and choose what they want to install, and so that any person talented in photo shop can rework the tougher to do textures without having to dig around for the texture ID.

In regards to the Armor and weapon retextures, the person who posted those has been pretty silent since then and I doubt he is still working on them. No one else has said anything else about working on those textures.
Thanks, that definitely clarifies!

I see that Messiagov had dumped a ton of textures for the game, before I go fooling around with them does anyone know if these include world textures or if they are isolated only to icons/characters/etc?

I'm not talented with Photoshop but my girlfriend is and I'm willing to give some editing a shot.
Messiahgov's textures include about 60-70% of the textures in the game. So it shold include world textures and such.

If you're using the SXE401 (NTSC) version then yep.

Been using this texture pack when playing Xenoblade (I'm ~20h in at the moment), it's really great. Huge thanks to the team.

Does anyone have a working link for Messiahgov's texture packs? The listed ones no longer work.

I've tried to make one buy distorted the original. Kinda crapy, but works so far.

Isn't that the PS3 button and not the Classic Controller one?

I thought his textures were included in this pack as well?

I was just going through the files I had been working on and realized that when I uploaded my dump/retexture pack a few pages back, I accidentally named a folder in my pack "Misc. Dump" instead of "Misc. Retextures." So anyone who has downloaded it should be made aware that the "Misc. Dump" folder actually contains a few miscellaneous retextures done by myself and contains the majority of contributions made by other people since the release of 4.1.

Calling it "Messiahgov's texture pack" is somewhat misleading. It's more like "Messiahgov's dump pack."

It's a huge collection of raw files from the game; there are no retextured files.

As a reminder, for those who are talented in photoshop, there are five main menu icons that still need to be done. There are already 16 or 17 done, so retexturing those would really add some finish to what has already been done. If someone is able to redo them and upload them, I would be more than happy to batch rename all of the accumulated repeating IDs for the images and upload them here.

I've uploaded the five icons below.

My apology, quoted the wrong sentence. Tongue
Mean to answer this one.
