Ah, I noticed all of those frames. Must have been insane trying to get them all. Do they have a ton of possible textures for the same image, like the menu icons?

So far I'm up to 37 sets of menu icons, 776 files. I got to Bionis' Leg last night and decided to do a quick run through again of everything I had done so far and found 4 more sets of images, all after story events. This leads me to believe that after each major event, there is a pool of possible menu icons. Same thing happens when you enter and exit an area; I left tephra cave and re-entered about 30 times and generated 8 more sets of icons. I'm hoping that there is a general pool of event/loading menu icon sets for the entire game, so by retexturing all of these now I won't have to as much later on. I'm pretty doubtful of that though, :p.

Also, I tried to download messiahgov's dump and all of the links were dead.

Um, hi, so, I wanted to ask something...
I downloaded your awesome texture pack and started playing the game. As I got to Gaur Plains and met Sharla, I noticed something didn't look right in her face, I noticed her eyes were changed. So, I opened the texture folder and edited the faces files (all of them I think, there were like three of them):

The thing is my changes didn't appeared in the game, and i would know why that is.

This may sound like a stupid question but did you restart the game?

Also how do you know the changes didn't appear. Did it retain the first retexture or did it go back to the blurry older textures?

Hahaha, yes, that was the first thing I tried.
I saved the game right before the cutscene, so as soon as I replaced the files I opened the game and played the cutscene. I know the changes didn't appear because she kept these v2 eyes (those with the black iris, the ones that come with the texture pack). And no, definetly the eyes weren't the original non-HD-eyes.

I started to get a little crazy here. I don't know if I made this clear before, but up until now I was just focusing on the main menu icons. Map, Items, Inventory, Gem Crafting, Collectopaedia, etc. I say "just," but actually it's still an insane amount of dumping and renaming.

Well it's come to my attention that the icons inside the actual inventory seem to use the same image file the entire game. Like the icons for weapons, armors, crystals, collectibles, etc. I have zero photoshop skills outside of preset options and sliders so I don't think I can create my own icons for the armors/weapons, butI should be able to find some stock icons for the other things like collectibles and such. I don't think I could possibly rename all of those every time if they behave like the menu icons, but I don't think they do.

Sadly, the quest screen seems to change around like the main menu icons. The quest complete symbol stays static it seems, but the "New" quest image as well as all of the images inside the quest details screen (quest giver, reward, money, etc.) change like the main menu icons.

It might be a little too much work to retexture those icons as well as the main menu.

I'm not sure if this is a proper reply to your post, but through a batch process, renaming and such is very very easy. The only things that will take some time are actually creating new images. If we already have the retextures, then the only thing that needs attention is the actual dumping of missing textures.

Yes, the difficult part is catching every instance of every set of icon IDs. I've gone threw the starter area and tephra cave 6 times now, from new game until I load in to Bionis' Leg. Every time running in back and forth through load screens, and reloading the same save multiple times. I'm pretty convinced that there is a pool of some sort; either a very large pool for everything, or pools for individual things such as story events, zone changing, and quick traveling. I reload frequently because sometimes the textures will "carry over" if they're already there, and reloading a save can reset them or load a set up I already have retextured.

Renaming itself is easy and quick, and dumping isn't really that bad either. It's finding every. single. instance. of the icon IDs to dump. I'm up to over 40 something sets of menu IDs, and I think I'm going to start trying to dump the quest menu icons well. I've probably played the beginning part of the game for about 20 hours now, constantly loading and reloading and dumping. The problem is that we really have no clue how many different IDs there are for each image. If I could just say "Hey, dump all of the map icon images," it would be cake.

On a side note, I have a dump of every single item icon in the game. The only icons I'm missing are some crystal ones that I haven't got to yet. I loaded up a cheat that lets you scroll through all of the items in the game (except crystals for some reason...) and just dumped textures while I scrolled through. I'm pretty sure the icons for the items don't have multiple IDs for each icon. Now we just need to get someone in here who can photoshop them.

I think I got it. The screenshot of Sharla in your post looks like it's part of a cutscene. Cutscenes use a different set of textures that we call "dynamic faces." They are the ones with holes in the eyes to allow movement of the eyes. The eyeballs though are another texture.

Replace the eyes in this one SX4P01_8792155c_6.png and tell me if it works. I THINK those are her eyes.
