Haha yeah, it's not really a struggle so much as it is a never ending battle. Everything is constant progress, but it's like running a race on a track that just goes on for infinity. Maybe there's an end somewhere, but even with a telescope it's nowhere in sight, especially the more we keep learning lol.

Well, at least there has never been something that would have rendered your actual self-made textures useless. But would be a kick in the gut I'm sure Wink

Yeah luckily those should last forever in a manner of speaking. Worse case scenario is that everything will have to be redumped again some day, so all the names would be different. The only thing that would make the textures themselves worthless would be if Dolphin devs removed custom textures altogether. But even then, older revs would still have it.

Yeah, I don't think they'll do that. It's one of those features that makes the emulator so much better than the original Wii experience (or at least it can, given there are some texture wizards like yous on the case).
Costum Texture support is what kept the good old emutalk forums for N64 emulation alive much longer than it would have been otherwise. BTW, someone needs to get that Djipi guy over here for some Dolphin texture packs - he was another real wizard, made that very pretty "Celda" pack for Ocarina of Time in Windwaker style. Aaaah, good times ^^

Haha I haven't been active on the emutalk forums for some time, or any of them really for years. This texture project was the first time I crawled out of my cave since like 2005 when I was working on the N64 config list. I eventually redid the whole thing in 2012, but my only post everywhere was like: Here it is! And yeah that cell shading pack by djipi for OoT is awesome. I played the entire game over with it, and it even works in Master Quest if I remember correctly.

Yeah, well, at some point the forum strangely came to a sudden hold. I think when there was a database crash and all threads were lost or something... and the devs of Project64 were so hushy about v1.7 or what was it? I think it never even came out, did it? Only tons of alleged leaked beta versions all over the net full of malware ^^

Aaah, now that you're saying it, I think I even remember you. Like, as the guy who did the N64 config list ;P

Haha yeah I may have been well known at one point for it, who knows. Most message boards have my list and other pages stickied somewhere. Ngemu on every n64 board, emutalk in the general n64 section, and emuxhaven before it randomly vanished without a word. I still get emails all the time from people asking N64 questions because of my site, ironically I haven't really played with N64 emulation in over 2 years lol. And.. I think the most common question I receive is "are you going to update your list with PJ64 2.0/2.1 configs?". If only I had a nickle every time I was asked that one, I'd umm.. have a lot of nickles. Tongue It's my intention but you know.. it's time consuming and not as interesting to me as it once was.

Yeah it's been out for quite some time now: http://www.pj64-emu.com/downloads/project64/binaries/ I'm constantly reminded of it. Tongue

EDIT: Finally got the mediafire links back up... Everytime I repacked/uploaded I found something else that was like OMG now I gotta do it all over again! First I fixed that issue with the texture folder being skipped, then had to fix the ReadMe, twice, added narcku's neptunia monados, then the script had to be changed for that, then forgot to update it for one of the packs, and probably other stuff. And everytime between those, I was already compressing or uploading lol. I think everything is finally perfect for now... hopefully.. at least enough to stand the test of time for awhile without needing anymore updates outside of new textures or more IDs for repeating ones.
