Yeah it's not like it's completely corrupted beyond repair. So far we've only seen 3 instances of it happening, and one of them is in a very rare circumstance. How often these issues are actually going to come up remains to be seen. So far we know that these can generate the same ID:
- Reyn and a small bottom left corner in the High Entia Tomb.
- Options gear icon and a medium bottom border.
- Shulk and a small top border when saving after the final colony 9 cutscene. (Rare: must be skipped about 1/3 through).

And all this does suck, but what can ya do. I'm slowly getting over it. I should have looked more into it beforehand, so in a way I somewhat blame myself although it's really nobodies fault. Most textures were probably initially created based on messiahgov's dumps. And it's not his fault either, his intentions were good. It just sucks it ended up being a situation where frosted cupcakes were handed out to a room full of elderly, to later find out they went into a diabetic coma. He probably had no clue that it was best to dump on safest. And if my memory serves me right, Xenoblade didn't always run so well on Dolphin and crashed a lot. I played it on my Wii back then, later imported my saves when I dumped my nand.

So, we'll just have to deal with the (rare)misplaced borders?
Or are guys going to just remove those IDs?(Leave them untextured?)
I'm personally fine with it either way. It's no big deal.
The amount of UIs you guys have done outweigh all that for me Tongue

We're making portraits the priority, so the random portrait-border issue will remain. Portraits are in sight much more than these borders, and border IDs change a lot so the reyn/shulk/wrench thing may not even come up at all in a playthrough. If later it's realized that 100's of borders become portraits, and icons become things, and everything is way out of whack, then it would be worth it to remove conflicting textures. But so far for only 3 known issues is not so bad.

I'm going to start playing the game again real soon after we get this pack out, dump on safest, but I'm making no promises that it will become an "alternate" texture pack in the end. The reason I say this is because anything could happen between now and the time I finish the game for a third time, and I want to enjoy my next playthrough. I'll probably retexture the main UI elements for myself, but there would be no point in releasing any of it without all the paletted textures.

And those glasses are sweet. I wouldn't call them useless, I like em ahah. I seen a lot of awesome clothing mods in your screenshots. Tongue

Edit: Actually there's no better time than now, and no better place than here. Smile We're probably gonna have this pack ready in a day or two, me finishing the maps is the only bottleneck. I'm trying my best to pump them out as fast as possible, so now is the best time for anyone who has textures they want included in the pack. If I finish the maps and there is anything important that anyone is working on but won't finish before me, let me know and we will wait.

Unfortunately I didn't keep them all, I wish I did. The heart texture, some icons, the gems, the climb icon, the door thingy, the map arrow, the goal flag... I no longer seem to have these. Sad

Fyi, chances are you'll have to dump the textures again once the custom textures code has been rewritten. When that happens, it should be possible for end users to use custom texture packs regardless of their texcache accuracy, so it's worth redumping all textures for that.

That said, we have no idea when it's going to be rewritten; chances are it won't happen for a while.

If someone can make it so that the IDs dumped are the same across all texture accuracies, I would be willing to redump the game for that. It would probably have to be a while (I can only take so many hundreds of hours of standing around accessing menus :p), but it sounds like it'll be a while anyway. Maybe even by then someone will have found a way to make paletted textures more manageable.

Bighead, thanks for the link. I might actually mess around with some of them and see if I can learn a few things. I doubt I'll be able to improve any of them though :p

Edit: Narcku, those shades are sweet. I might replace my Dunban headgear with them :p

I figured that would be the case, I made that assessment a long time ago when I read one of your posts that was made a long time ago on this board, long before I arrived here Tongue. As long as paletted textures won't have a trillion variations like they do now, it won't be nearly as painful as it is currently and I wouldn't mind it in the least.

Some of them might be hard to follow, I have some weird layer names and I broke some rules of some layers especially in the maps. But those are probably going to be the least useful to anyone. My hopes are someone will continue the affinity icons. It is still my intention to finish them, they've just been the lowest of my priorities. Because they are not finished, I don't even want to include the upper bionis ones in the pack, not even as optional.

That reminds me, I do have the upper bionis portrait/faces whatever in my affinity folder I think. Might want to take them out. I know they're somewhere.

Tell me this is better than my old map. If it isn't, lie to me.

I made some creative changes over the original like adding borders to better tell what is a cliff, accuracy fixes, yada yada. If someone doesn't like it, there's always my old map, the jagged one, my project file, and the chance to create their own. I don't know if it's fully done yet, I'll have to give it the eagle eye later. Too tired to make comparison shots or update my site, but the map is included as an attachment.

Edit: Almost forgot, top layer isn't done yet, just this one. This map alone was something I would usually do over the course of 3 days or more. It was nothing short of a miracle I got it done as quick as I did, but the quality of my work may have suffered a bit.

It's just not the same without seeing the accuracy shift happen before your very eyes. Instead of compare it to the default map, we already know that one's ugly, I compared it vs my original.
