Not worth it imo, especially since the normal texture doesn't look all that bad. I know when I seen close ups of Egil I wasn't thinking "Man, that eye texture overlay could certainly use an improvement". It looks good the way it is, and any improvements will be next to unnoticeable.

Edit: I also noticed things have slowed down in here a bit the past few days. Maybe that's a good sign meaning we've actually made enough progress that there isn't much left to do, in regards to the UI anyway. I can think of a few things but all of them are pretty minor and have no real impact (like that crown on the collectopedia screen, menu backgrounds, etc..). I think that finishing the maps and finding as many dumps as possible are the only real major things that remain.

That and the armor icons. The many, many armor icons. I'll try my hand at them (I'm not expecting it to go that well, honestly), but I have finals, so I won't have much free time unless I procrastinate. Big Grin

I tried one of the heavy armor icons to see how well I could make those, and it gets very confusing.

But yeah, the project has advanced considerably as of late. Everyone has done an amazing job!

Haha, that's funny. When I saw that close up I was like uhhhh why isn't this one textured like his other eyes? But, yeah. You can't really see the difference on something zoomed in really close like that. Meh, I just thought I'd toss it out there with the rest of the crap. I think it looks a little better.

But yeah: maps, armor icons, dumping. Whatever other faces/hair. There are some misc. things that I can probably nitpick over. I would love to do some environment, but that stuff is hard and I have trouble doing even simple stuff. And there is obviously so many environment textures, it would be a very large project. But the main goal for me since I've been dumping is to get the menus/submenus/UI done. Everything else that has come along (maps, face, hair, monados, etc.) has been awesome icing on the cake. I never expected people to show up and start retexturing more stuff. Seeing all of these retextures is what got me back into dumping and is what keeps me going.

After what I'm guessing will be the 5.0 release, I plan on brushing up on my photoshop skills and maybe hitting any leftover textures if we fail to get them done / find any before then.

Almost forgot about the armor icons. Tongue Hopefully I can lend a hand with a few of them as well. Whatever you come up with between now and the time I scream the words "THE LAST MAP IS DONE!!" and dance around for about 10 minutes until I get nauseous, I'll try to match the style.

EDIT: Environment is actually easier than making textures, at least I think it is. The hard part is just blending two textures to make a new texture where like mountain meets path, or grass meets path. There's lots of free textures on the web to use, picking out suitable ones would be the hardest part.

LOL That sounds good to me! I really hope we can do them. It's pretty much the only menu part that sticks out.

Retexturing environment would be about 10x harder than the stuff we're doing now, I think. But hey, we can at least try and fail miserably!

Yeah, I'd be afraid of messing up the aesthetic theme of the game. But some of the textures (like the trees and sand/dirt) make me weep.

Also, those damn rotating circle/gear things on the Mechon. Those things are nasty looking.

If you guys manage to finish the armor icons.... man. That would be amazing. The weapon icons are sexy as hell, I grin so hard every time I open my inventory now. Then I move over to the armor and Sad happens.

I'm taking a break for a couple hours. When I get back to it, I'll keep an eye out for any work to be done and start compiling another pack of problems. I'm sure theres a couple things out there.

So far here is my list outside of Angiratha (and other maps):
- Collectopedia crown (been wanting to do this for ages)
- Medium border glitch
- Save/Load screen cursor (which u pointed out earlier)
- Affinity Tree icons (not sure if I'm still gonna make the rest like I did for upper bionis)

(Don't mind the minimap, its still a WIP Tongue)

Okay, that's a pretty good list. I'll still keep my eyes open for anything I see. Honestly, everything is shaping up really well.

Edit: LOL yes, EVERYTHING circled in that pic. There are so many of those textures in the game, it'd be impossible to get them all.

Edit again: I really want to redo some of the heavily featured Face mechon gears though, like Metal Face and Xord, etc... However I think that will be a project for after the next release.

Edit: Up to 372 system save icons, lol. The 500 I guestimated isn't too far off :p

Here's my take on the Collectopaedia (paedia?) crown, I needed a break anyway.

It's not beautiful, I didn't do the dissolve effect they had, it's not even an accurate replica of the original, but it is HQ Tongue. My imagination kinda took over at the end, I just wanted it to look nice on the screen. Need some opinions before I slap it into the collectopaedia folder.

I think it looks fantastic. I want to put it in my game right now. Can I just snag that file as is?

I don't think it matters that it isn't exactly a replica, it kind of looks like a repaired version. I think you did a good job.

I've been working on this, I think I'm done with it:

The sword icon for the vision... which got me thinking: could that cloud be a different kind of vision attack icon? I'm not sure if there are other icons besides that sword for visions. On my next playthrough I'm going to keep a better eye out for all of the vision icons. I have a couple more monster icons, don't know if Echoes still has an interest in them.

Anyway, let me know what you think about my own texture. Not as complex as yours (and may need a bit of cleaning up), but I think it looks better than the default.

Edit: The top bar is the new one :p If you can't tell that though, I guess I didn't do a good job.
