Haha.... I've spent all day dumping the intro of fallen arm. I'm way behind where I wanted to be at right now (finishing up Mechonis Field). I've also been a bit distracted by the Monado Buster stuff.

Narcku, I think the Monado buster effects (and all Monado abilities) are hardcoded. I grabbed everything single FX texture from my last battle and nothing seemed to change.

Well not all of them are hardcoded, the beam and orb FX for Buster are there, so the smoke should probably be there too.
But nvm, it's not really important Tongue

And sorry to be a pain, but I just saw Kallian's new wig in cutscene(the back of his hair) and noticed there was a color discrepancy.
So I adjusted the color the again. Here's the new(hopefully final) one.

Wait, do you already have the "Beam" from the monado buster attack textured?

Edit: I ask because Dolphin won't dump textures that are already in the Load folder. So I'm sitting here watching the beams and stuff and nothing is changing. So if your pack has a beam texture (for the monado buster attack), I was watching the wrong stuff :p

Edit again: Making some headway here. I found a whole bunch of different things concerning in battle Monado stuff. Still trying to figure out the Monado Buster stuff, but I did find the file that determines the color of the "blast" when the buster hits.

I also have 4 files that effect the colors of 4 different effects when you activate the monado skill thing (big middle button) before you actually use a monado ability, including the "swirly" light the flies out everywhere while you're choosing your ability.

Edit the third:

Okay, spent the past couple hours doing this. I'm attaching a file with all of monado / monado buster in battle effects. I do not think you can change a few of the effects, like the smoke. I've separated the folders like this:

Monado Activate - When you "turn on" the monado to use a monado art
-Aura - A smoke or mist released when you activate the monado
-Orbs - Orbs of light released when you activate the monado
-Shockwave - Burst of energy released when you activate the monado
-Swirls - Energy the swirls all around, lasts the entire time you're picking your monado art

Monado Buster
-Phase 1 (Activation) - Stuff that happens on that start of the Monado Buster attack
---Can Change Color - Can change the color of these effects
------Activate Buster Lines - Beams or lines that come out of shulk upon Monado Buster activation
------Activate Buster Swirls - Swirls of energy that come out of shulk upon Monado Buster activation
Edit: This effects all arts in the game, not just the monado.
---Misc - Effects that either aren't effected by editing colors or I just can't see them (contains a smoke effect, but doesn't seem to change anything)
-Phase 2 (Strike) - Sutff that happens when the monado buster strikes it's target(s)
---Finishing Flash - Can change the color of this effect - The blast when Monado Buster strikes
---Misc - Effects that I can't see or aren't effected. I think some might SLIGHTLY effect the finish blast, but it happens so fast it's difficult to see.

I should also note that some of these effects could effect other things. Which is why if I couldn't see an immediate effect I put them off to the side in the misc. folders. This was a fight with shulk only though, so there were no other characters to generate effect IDs.

Due to not being able to change some of the effects, there seems to be a purplish tint to just about everything you do (for the buster). I believe this is applied to some of the white FX and is hardcoded into the game.

SUPER EDIT POWER: Okay, so every monado art has a special "color" aura that seems to be hardcoded. I feel like that's okay, since each ability is supposed to have it's own unique color anyway. However, using what I learned up above, I've created a red "Monado activation" pack. This will make it so when you activate the monado you will have red special effects, and another set of special effects for when you activate a monado art. Usually they are all blue (since the original monado beam is blue), so all I've done is change them to red and add a bit of white for some neat effects.

Removed rars and compiled a new rar containing all of Narcku's monados but the special monado FX. updated with the new monado activation FX.

Yep, I do. Didn't I post it a few pages back?(Along with the saber trail).
I guess your eyes just caught better details than mine, all I could remember with Buster is that:
-Normal Beam disappears, a new beam appears afterwards(the buster beam) which extends. (This one is already textured red)
-Monado starts emitting some kinda blue smoke FX (while the beam is extending).
-Shulks swings the Monado down, beam has a saber trail FX, different from the normal one. (This one is also already covered).

To be honest, I don't get which color/FX you were referring to in your post, it's hard to get without picture Tongue

Cool. I'll try this out Big Grin

Edit: Ow yeah. I think I remember that finishing flash. I think it was still blue last time.
That was one of the things I wanted to replace.

Edit 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSNrByAirtY -Pause at 0:02, that's the smoke I was referring to.

Yeah, there's a ton of stuff I learned. It's hard to describe everything since we don't really have terms for everything.

First off there's two different "activations"

1 - When you "turn on" the monado. this is what brings up all of your monado arts.
2 - When you use a monado art (like purge, buster, whatever) Edit: When you use ANY art in the game on any character :p

The effects in my red pack above affect all of those special effects. Most of them are only on screen for .5-1 second. They happen quick. The swirl lasts until you choose a monado art to use though. There's also a file included to make it so buster has a sort of red explosion when it hits.

Second, each monado has a special color attributed to it. Enchant is purple, shield is yellow, speed, is light blue, purge is green, etc. You can change all of their beam colors and trail colors and even some of the effects, but they will always have some sort of weird smoke/aura effect that seems to be hardcoded. To me, changing the buster beam to red is fine, since it sort of makes sense. However, since the other special arts change the beam color by default, those should probably stay like that.

So, in short. You can change the special effects for when you turn on the monado to match your monado beam color, but each of the special monado arts gets tricky besides the beam and trail effects.

Aaah, that's much clearer.
Yeah, I figured the beams and saber trails should be changeable.

Thanks a lot Smile
I'm gonna look through your files again.

Btw, if we're gonna include these FX in the pack, we should probably put the original files as well.
Otherwise, other users may not know how to uninstall it if they wish to revert back to blue beam.

Edit: I feel kinda bad now. We end up discussing things that are not related to HD project (my fault Blush)
Well, maybe it's not totally unrelated.. I mean figuring out those FX IDs means we can make HD version of them Tongue
Oh and did you get the new wig I posted above?

Edit 2: Yeah, that's fine I guess. If I do make a retexture of those FX, I will send them to you.

Yeah. What I did was turn off dumping until I got into the fight. I did some auto attacks to dump some of the regular attack effects (white orbs and flashes mostly), then I activated the monado and paused emulation and grabbed all of the textures generated by turning on the monado. Then I unpaused and hit buster, then paused again. So I took all of those files that I dumped and put them into one folder. Then I unpaused and let the buster hit, paused and took all of the textures and put them in yet another folder. This helped me break up which effects affect which part of the attack.

So in my top RAR, you have every single file that the monado uses when it starts up, and every single filed dumped while using the buster. There is a smoke effect (SX4P01_ac1437f3_14.png) generated upon monado buster activation, but changing the color doesn't seem to do anything (that I can see.)

I agree, I'll find some way to incorporate a copy of the regular effects into the folder. If you're happy with my quick retextures, I'll toss them in with your Blaze-R. If you want to make your own or just want me to separate mine out, that's fine too. Tell me what you would like to do and I'll set it up how you want to do it.

Edit: Nah, this is fine. It may be optional stuff, but I think it's pretty cool stuff and some people but be very interested in different color monado beams/fx for subsequent playthroughs. And everything is dumped now and we have a better understand how the monado FX work. I think it's worth discussing.

Yes, I got the new hair and replaced them in the pack. I haven't ran into Kallian again yet. I wanted to be done with Mechonis Field and I'm just starting thanks to Fallen Arm having two separate sets of IDs (and the monado stuff, but I wanted to figure that out anyway. been bothering me for a while).

Edit 2: Do you still have the original textures for the buster beam, trail, and orb effects so I can put them in the default textures folder?

Edit 3: Upon further testing, the "monado buster" activation special effects are just "art activation" special effects. So every character in the game's arts will have those effects. I think I'm going to remove my pack up there and remove these two files files from the pack: SX4P01_2b06a5c6_14.png and SX4P01_c15b6d1d_14.png. The rest only effect the monado itself.

Here is the updated Monado Pack with Narcku's stuff including the red monado activation FX and cutscene red lightning (in a separate folder with a warning that it may effect other special cutscene effects.) I removed the FX that affected all characters' arts.

I know this has nothing do with the Monado stuff but I think I know where this goes finally.
I "think" its the purple haze that surrounds the character portrait when they are so discouraged they can't hit anything. I've noticed it can come up even when character tension is in "normal" status. I just smashed out Agniratha (took all freaking day), and since I'm playing with only 25% exp gain, I was only lvl 59 going in and some enemies were level 68. 2 full runs through it, I got to 64. Tongue I got to see that purple cloud quite a bit hehe, Night Vision gems ftw.

Edit: Nope, I'm wrong. I decided to go back and see if it really was that smoke and it's not. That cloud goes back into the "who the hell knows what this really is" category. The purple smoke is the attachments, with there being like 9 of them for the white texture. Not sure why so many, I only had one on my screen when I dumped it.

Edit 2: Now I see why there's so many, there's 10 of the white because it just loops through them like a GIF to make it appear animated.

Lol. Yeah, those Night Vision gems are handy for the super bosses. Or when you gimp yourself for a challenge. :p Granted if you do the sidequests, the game practically dumps XP down your throat...

I'm super overleveled because of my double XP code. I'm not doing many sidequests though. Just barreling through for the dumps. I'll take a more relaxed "for fun" run when I feel satisfied with the dumps. The dream is to never see an untextured menu icon.

I'm glad you figured out the cloud, I haven't run into that yet this time. Too many levels. Boo, mystery cloud.

I have a much better understanding of the arts/monado texture system now. But I spent way too much time on it and I'm done with it for now. I may revisit it later. I removed the pack that had all of the monado dumps for now, I feel like I got all of the goodies that will be necessary for color change mods for the monado in the new pack. Narcku said to throw the red effects in with his Blaze-R set. So if you're using the Blaze-R monado, you should snatch up the new pack. The originals are also included in the above pack for anyone who wants to make their own colors.

I may end up making my own monado at some point, so these textures will probably come in handy.

Almost done with Mechonis field, it was much faster than expected (not a lot of dumps compared to Sword Valley / Fallen Arm). I think maybe I'm starting to run out of new IDs (crossing fingers). I think I'm going to spend some time tomorrow backtracking for dumps. But for tonight, I am done. Hopefully I don't get super sidetracked again tomorrow.

Edit: Also, could you send me your dumps of the longer brown bars? The ones for equipment and gems on the party screen. You sent me all of your sockets before and not yours bars. Better yet, might be good just to send me all of your new socket dumps too. I have almost twice as many sockets as bars now and they dump at the same time from the same screen. I missed out on a lot of bars since I wasn't even dumping the party screen until Eryth Sea.

Unfortunately I was wrong. Sad Still have no clue where that smoke comes from. One advantage of doing all the side quests is I'm finding a lot of quest textures. I went out of my way trying to find some gemcrafting heat and mega heat textures today too, found like 14 of them. They don't seem to have many variations or I'm not good at getting rare ones to dump.
