I think 4.5U has faces made by Red_Schism, but only for protagonists (there are so many characters in this game).
All his hd faces are in correct size, so there should be no reason why they won't load.
Did you really compare the faces?
It may not be too noticeable in field, but in cutscene you'll see a huge difference, due to facial expressions.

Going to be busy for most of the day again, but I should be back to my regular schedule starting tomorrow. Well, more than likely starting later tonight :p

Yes, I got the updated version. I still have to test them out, but I'm leery of changing the font if it messes with the menu font as well. I'll have to check everything out though.

And, yes, this games OST is probably one of the best ever made.

4.5U has no custom hair as far as I know. Nobody started working on that until Narcku here. If you search his posts you should be be able to get his textures. However, he has done certain characters only. There is not a total rework of character hair.

As far as faces, RedSchism did a total rework of just about every major character in the game (edit) of all the player characters. Poweredbykimchi filtered a lot of the other major characters faces too, I'm guessing to sharpen them. (/edit) They're probably loading, but just aren't... i don't want to say "not noticeable." The original face textures in the game were HORRRIBLE. If you take a screencap during a cutscene with and without textures on of a closeup of someones face, you'll see the difference. Narcku has actually made a few faces too. And custom monado stuff. We'll be including all of his stuff in the next pack, but if you can't wait, search his posts and you'll find them.

Lolno, I'm pretty sure Red only did playable characters' faces(which are awesome, mind you).
I know 'coz I downloaded his face pack, not from the big one Big Grin

Well they may not be totally HD, but they were improved from the default faces. Here's a screenshot of (edit) a portion of (/edit) my "faces" folder. A few are Narckus, but I have 301 files in here and most of them are not playable characters.

Edit: 99% of these are in 4.5U.

Edit again: Regardless, your faces are still the highest quality yet. Especially your facial hair. I'm digging it on Mumkhar and Dixon. (Could use a Dunban facial hair update :p)

Those are not done by Red afaik, but well.. whatever floats your boat.
Those are exactly the same dimension as the original faces.
Only difference I see is that there's some kind of filter applied to them, which are probably done massively, using batch.

Edit: I'm not really saying this to compare my textures, but really, the difference between Red's work to those batched faces is like heaven and earth.
So no offense, but it just sounds like an insult when you put them together like that. I'm getting too edgy here, nvm, I'll just shut up >_<

Edit 2: Red's faces are still of the highest quality. All I could do was just imitate what he did.

I totally agree with your assessment. I still think they're an improvement at higher resolutions (I can see a difference for the better).

Perhaps they were not done by Red. (Poweredbykimchi is credited for doing some face textures, so they were probably batch filtered by him.)

Regardless, I'm pretty sure we're replacing any of those "filtered" faces with the work you do since yours true HD face remakes (I am at least, personally). I just don't think anyone had the time to go through and manually reconstruct every face in HD. So the sharpened batch faces were a "quick" (still probably took time to find them all) fix.

Edit: No offense taken, I can clearly see the difference myself (in quality, res, and filesize). I knew they were still the same res as the original faces, so I should have never called them HD.

Edit again: Speaking of HD, I found the original creator of the Xbox360 buttons. I do not think he personally was the one who put them in this pack, because there are some "custom" buttons made (Like L and R trigger in the same texture). Anyway, the actual artist has a higher resolution pack on his site (64x64 compared to the 46x46 included in 4.5U). I manually adjusted/increased the canvas sized to get them to line up properly (and appear the correct size) in game. They could probably still use a tiny bit of work, but in my opinion look way better at higher resolutions. So here's the pack. I didn't redo the "directional" buttons, only the face buttons since they looked awful in the menu screens at 1440p.) I'm not sure if these will even make a difference at a lower res. But the difference was huge for me.

Alright, I did notice the difference in cutscene, it seems they're indeed there.

Poweredbykimchi sharpened the face textures a bit to make them stand out more. He did it to a lot of them actually.

I've been annoyed at the loading screen Monado symbol for ages now, so I used my new-found Pen knowledge to replicate the original. It isn't perfect because for whatever reason the game loads the texture twice, once correctly and once at an angle, as frozenwings pointed out a while ago. I messed with the shadows a bit so the one underneath isn't as visible, but I didn't want to go overboard with it.

Anyway, here you go. I also included a version without the shadows, in case anybody wants to try and make it better/more accurate.

Edit: Mmm. Looks like I messed up the white level here. I'll fix it in a moment.

Edit2: Fixed! I also corrected an oversight.

By the way, the older version of this texture is great example of a texture being unnecessarily big. It was actually 8X the size of the original. Talk about overkill!

Omg echoes, I love you. I actually have 3 or 4 attempts of that symbol saved on pc my pc right now. And they are all horrible, lol. Can't wait to get home and give this a shot.

Narcku, played with your red trail effects all night last night and they were amazing. Now I have too much of a tough decision betwee the wii and the blaze-r versions. Too bad we can't do a dual weild monado shulk :p.

I know what you mean, I also tried this one a lot of times before, but failed miserably every single time. Ironically, the hardest part of making this texture was getting the shadow right, which is just a setting that requires zero drawing. Hell, it still isn't perfect, which is why I included the version with no shadows. Well that, and in case anyone wants to change the color to pure white, since this one is sliiightly gray.

Updated them, by the way.

I need to get the Monado II to try Narcku's textures, right? Bow I'm gonna have to hunt for his posts, hahaha
