Phew. Yes. Apparently starting the game with Japanese audio causes the game to load a different set of IDs.

Since the title screen always loads the same, however, it doesn't matter until you're in game.

Edit: Some IDs may be shared, I don't know. All I know is that I loaded in with japanese audio and it was a barren wasteland void of retextures.
Edit: I'm not sure if we need that 3rd Big clock texture then, bighead. It's probably a japanese audio texture.
Edit^3: I wonder if those nifty background screenshot things IDs will line up. I'll have to check in game.

Yay finally free. I was hoping we'd see a MUCH bigger gain than that. Sad It's probably not worth the effort to be honest, especially if the DDS pack is already usable for those with slow computers. I'm a little indifferent now too. At first glance there's almost no change, the gem crafting icon is the only immediately noticeable one, the reason it lost quality is because it lost it during the quick and dirty conversion (down scaling with GIMP and cubic interpolation). So it "could" look identical with some editting, but to me it almost doesn't seem worth the effort.

Haha, well. What should I do then? Should I just go back to all of the "original" icons and just replace the system icon (your version looks much better)?

Or do you want me to keep all of the smaller ones?

Also, the "time of day" screenshots that Echoes replaced work with English voices. I'm wondering if it's just the _9 textures that have different IDs?

Edit: I don't know if you looked at my screenshots, but the "Clock" part of the "Other" icon looks a little better in your version too.

I know you guys are busy, but does anyone know which file stores the game font? The cutscene font in particular.
I was digging up old thread and found this.
I thought the font looked good so I was curious.

Hmm... I guess it doesn't matter. May as well go back to the old versions, but keep the system icon. No point in trying to fix what's not broken. That one I actually did go out of my way to improve the image quality. I did give it a lot of thought today and a DDS pack solves all our problems and allows us to focus on more important things than this. But, at least we know when to create new textures to never go above 4x because beyond that it doesn't matter.

I haven't messed with the text a whole lot, but the cutscene font (if there is a separate texture for cutscene font) looks awful sometimes for some reason.

I also still need to play with your red effects for the Monado. I've been busy with this crap all day night, time for a little pleasure :p.

On that note, is it possible to change the color in the center of the monado (that appears behind the monado symbols)? Or is it "hardwired" (I'm sure there's a better term) into the game itself? Or do these address that? I noticed last time I was using your Blaze-R monado, the symbols were still blue.

Which also reminds me: I've been saving the different Monado symbols that appear throughout the game. I think some are for cutscenes (larger textures) and some are for actual "in-game" use (like in battle). If we feel like it, we can probably copy the IDs from the smaller images to copies of the larger and get some better quality monado symbols for in-battle. I'm not sure if they're even large enough to be noticeable though.

Don't know if you caught my edit, but I think your "other" icon looks a little better as well. You can see it in my screenshots thing if you feel like even DLing it.

Aaah, so it wasn't just me then? I thought it was because of my IR (I thought maybe the modded font was too HD for me).
My font looks kinda bad too sometimes... dunno how to explain it. Not bad as in low-res, but the black outline of cutscene font is kinda.. blocky and stuffs.
So when I saw that post, I got curious.

You mean hardcoded? I don't know which color you're referring to.. but it could be.
Like that saber trail texture for example, I thought for sure they were hardcoded for each Monado Arts/Normal Swings.
But it turned out they did use texture, I just wasn't looking hard enough Tongue.

Yeah, I don't think it's worth it. The cutscene ones maybe, but then again they don't look bad to me.

Considering I very rarely get any complaints about my retextures not working, I'd say it makes no difference. I've been using Japanese audio for a long, long time after all. The problem is most likely the duplicates, if anything.

Also, glad to know the "times of day" images work fine, because I initially got 2 sets of them, which was at the same time I got that extra clock piece, I assume.

Edit: Those cutscenes fonts could be misaligned or at a lower resolution, maybe both. Those have been around for a long time, I think Layberneth made those when he started the project back then. I'll look into them, I guess.

Yeah I think it only makes a difference with the _9 "duplicate prone" textures. And some might even line up, I don't know. Your UI work and those "times of day" shots aren't _9 files, so they're static. The big clock texture is also a _9 texture, but sometimes you run into a _9 texture that doesn't have a thousand duplicates.

I do know that it's not loading a lot of the textures though when I start the game up with Japanese audio.

Yeah keep the "Other" icon too. It took me awhile before I seen what you were talking about, its the little white blur along the sides?
