Haha it's a lot better than mine. But it's missing something.. maybe too blurry in the inside, making it appear too smooth or spherical or something. And from the right perspective it can still give an "outward" appearance.

Edit: I'm with frozen, I think it's an optical illusion that can't be defeated.

Edit: I think the problem is it's too "head on". At a slight angle, it's easier to distinguish like this bolt. But that may not look correct in game.

I just think it's funny. We have a guy making awesome maps and crazy weapon icons that are super complex, another guy who is the master of bevels and embossed looking things... and we can't make a stupid hole.

LOL!! I'm gonna have to give it another go now since you guys already did. Might just try to modify any of the current attempts.

Edit: Nope. 15 minutes into it and already what I'm creating is about to fail.

...I've been practicing on paper. I'm starting to get a feel of what needs to be done, but it's something else how hard it is to just draw a stupid hole lol.

Well if it makes you feel any better I keeping thinking I'm done with Sword Valley but then I find an entire new batch of textures. I wanted to be done with this place tonight and I haven't even entered the big base yet.

Nope that doesn't make me feel better at all, actually the complete opposite of it. I'm not doing too well either, only about halfway done with the goals I set for today. At least out of all the floors to this place, I got 2/3 of the big ones done. I'm also completely blown away with the number of IDs you found so far, and that exist in general. I was up to like I think 22k when u first msged me, and at that point I'm thinking meh, there can't be too many more. I'll worry hunting them out after the maps. But you basically doubled that now.

I have my ways, lol. A lot of saving/reloading/gem tricking going on at various points. I just have a ton of theories of what forces IDs to reset. I basically just kind of go with those, and sometimes they pay off and sometimes they don't.

I'm up to about 54,000 atm. It's definitely slowing down now (or I'm slacking more in between dumping :p). I'm starting to hit sets of IDs that are partially textured. Like I just ran into a couple sets that just had reyn and shulk portraits textured, meaning the sets are probably from the beginning of the game. So, a lot of looping of IDs it seems like.

This new version of Dolphin loads them a lot better though. The last version I had was taking around 20-30 seconds to load. This one takes about 10ish. Also way more stable, haven't had a BSOD or a dolphin crash yet. I'm very impressed.

Edit: Not that it ever crashed in the middle of playing, but upon starting/ending emulation. Which is more of an inconvenience than anything. Crashing while playing, that would be a different story.

When you say takes 10 seconds to load from 20-30, do you mean like the loading screen transitions or loading the textures after the loading screen? I'm wondering because textures are always loaded for me instantly, except on very rare occasions in certain areas (makna is one place the menu palette sometimes takes a few seconds before I see textured bars).

And I do have an issue every so often, I'm not sure if it's from using save states or what. The emulator like freezes to 0FPS, and the audio still plays but goes really really slow like manually spinning a record. It's extremely rare, and has only happened about 4 or 5 times in 150 hours of game time, and only seems to happen during an action like when I pick an option from the menu palette. I just assume its my hard drive or graphics card saying "Whelp, I'm done for now." until I restart emulation, unless other people have this issue. It might even be using HLE instead of LLE, or even the backend, I dunno. I switch them around from time to time (using LLE atm) but I never paid attention to which one I was using when it happened.

I mean when I double click Xenoblade in my Dolphin window. As in, when the game starts. Takes about 10 seconds now between clicking the game and it actually loading the Reading Disc screen or whatever. Before it was taking 20-30 sometimes (in addition to BSODs occasionally) when I had "load custom textures" checked with 50k textures in my load folder.

I have zero issues and virtually no loading time in game for anything. Sometimes when I enter a new map and it has to dump a ton of textures it may take 5 seconds at the load screen as opposed to 2 or 3.

Textures all load instantly, I've never had anything be untextured then all of a sudden load up a retexture it in it's place.

If you're having issues with the emulator, have you already tried out Tino's Dolphin build? The latest one works perfectly with costum textures for me Smile (You can just use it in another folder. It has recent core changes merged and will use your Dolphin Emulator user folder as well)
Just keep in mind that the shader cache might give you a few little hiccups on your first run (and maybe every time you get into a new environment).

To be honest, it looks like crap: (Show Spoiler)

.. but it looks decent on the jungle headgear.

Only tested on Journey Diadem and Hierax Cap.
Other headgears seem to have different IDs.

Back hair has alignment problem as usual, but not too noticeable unless you zoom in.
If it still bothers you, use the smooth version(less opacity, less detail).
If it still bothers you, use the original hair, since it already looks good(if not better) anyway.
