Yeah dude, that sand looks really good.

Honestly, the original sand textures in this game are HORRIBLE. I actually notice the bad sand textures standing out more than anything else in the game. It's a blurry mess. I wouldn't mind that texture if you still have it.

Just noticed the instructions on the front page could be a little confusing:

Current Bugs and Problems:
1. The texture pack interacts strangely with the Japanese voice acting. (Fix - A possible fix may be to start the game with English voice acting and then change to Japanese, but it is recommended to stay away from the Japanese voice acting until it's completely fixed.)


Installation:
1. Extract the entire folder from the .7z to your desktop.
2. Rename "SX4P01" folder to "SX4E01".
3. Alternative textures can be found in the "-Optional-" Folder.
To use them, copy and overwrite textures with the same name in SX4E01 folder.
4. Extract "NameConvertor.exe" from the zip file (found in Software folder) into "SX4E01" folder.
5. Enter SX4E01 and press START.
6. Copy/Paste SX4E01 folder into...
Dolphin builds pre-4.0 : \Dolphin\User\Load\Textures\
Dolphin builds post-4.0 : \Username\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Load\Textures\
7. Dolphin Graphics Settings:

General Tab > Backend: OpenGL/*Direct3D9 (Direct3D11 causes issues)
Hacks Tab > Texture Cache [Slider all the way to FAST]
Advanced Tab > Load Custom Textures [ON] & Dump Textures [OFF]

8. Run and play normally.


Troubleshooting:
1. This will only work on Xenoblade with game ID SX4P01, mine is the PAL version patched with the 30fps patch. If you own a different version of the game, use the Any Game ID Converter.
2. If at first it does not work, save a savestate and load it, else restart Dolphin.
3. If you have Dump Textures enabled, disable it, sometimes some textures wont load if you use it with Load Custom Textures.
4. Anyone having partial load issues make sure your texture cache is set to fast (credit: serimorph)
5. If it is still only partially working, for example one portrait is not working, take a screenshot and make a savegame an post it in my thread. (However there are issues with the big portraits in the Skill/Ability/Crafting pages only loading for Melia/Fiora)
6. Since one image may be used with multiple IDs, textures that should work will sometimes not appear depending on where you are in the game. This simply means we did not get the ID for that image at that part of the game. Please dump that texture and upload it.
7. If it is not working at all, post or PM me and I will try my best to assist.

The bold part, "2. Rename "SX4P01" folder to "SX4E01" could be really confusing to newbies. Should probably say something like "2. Rename "SX4P01" folder to "SX4E01" if using the NA version, don't change if using PAL"

I still have it, I packrat everything. A warning though: the sand texture will not blend with their crap grass. You'll see what I mean when u look at the textures in this zip. http://www.mediafire.com/download/62c8povi2dasjs6/ErythGarbage.zip

I rewrote the directions in v4.5U in USERSREADME.txt to be more clear and simple, hopefully people look to that first.
Edit: Looking at it closer, those are it LOL, only for the USA version.

Okay, I'll check out the textures tomorrow probably. I just started Valak Mountains (nice map, btw :p), so I'm a man on a mission right now with dumping.

Sand textures, I can kinda understand.
It's an open world type of game with many objects, so some of obscure ones(land, cliffs, ceilings) can have very little detail/repeating patterns,
since players normally don't zoom in that much. But this one... well there's just no excuse for this one:

It looks bad, even on 480p resolution, even worse since it's in a cutscene.
There's no way you can avert your eyes from that >_>. It's like they're saying, "Hey look at this ugly texture, yum yum!"

Somebody needs to dump that... block of wall and replace it with... something-- even a bitmap with pure black color is better than that Dodgy

Tino (Rodolfo) has just fixed (at least it seems like it in my initial testings) the costum textures support in his DX9-build. He did say though, that some textures are incompatible and are therefore being skipped; they needed to be resized to a valid multiple of 4 sizes. I don't know what that shit means, but I'm sure you will, so maybe it'll help ^^

EDIT: The ones that seem to be missing/skipped are still e.g. those transitional ground textures and the frame around the mini-map. So maybe those are in incompatible size...?

Yeah, that ugly ground texture(which you shouldn't use btw) resolution is 1023x964 or 709x1019 iirc.
Multiple of 4 is probably referring to the dimension size, 1023 is not divisible by 4.
You should probably find that texture, and edit it(stretch it or whatever) to fit 1024x964.

Unfortunately, my PC is too weak to keep a good FPS with your whole texture pack anyway -_-
However, it's fine with that sleek HUD of yours, so I guess I'll just delete all "world" textures and enjoy the HUD (at least as long as I don't get a new PC).

Oh, I think the menu buttons (the ones that come up from below when you press the menu button ingame) are also not hi res, so I guess they're also not the right size.

I don't know who you're referring to, but for the record, texture pack is not mine.
For the menu buttons, I believe they're already in correct size.
It's just that some of them have repeatable IDs, so from time to time you will see some of them are not hi res.
The next release will probably fix most of it(thanks to frozenwings).

Already done for the next pack (I actually did this some time ago). Before it goes public I'll have to take one last tour through every texture and double check, because frozen called two of them to my attention that I missed a few days ago. It took me some time but the dimensions of every texture will be divisible by 4. I was aware it would help with speed, but I didn't know textures that didn't follow this rule were flat out broken in D3D9.
