Ok, so our little dino friend should look much better now, at least in-game. It's not a proper fix, but I'll get to that eventually. And I should really finish the UI stuff I'm missing, but From thursday to sunday, I should have the time to do stuff.

By the way, I'm thinking there aren't many of these icons, since the first real boss (the spider at Tephra cave) uses it as an icon. I'm guessing there's one for "natural" stuff, one for mechanical stuff, and one for telethia. Maybe there are some for certain bosses, but I guess we'll see.

Haha. Nice. We've really killed this thread over the past couple of weeks. It's actually surprising how much of it was actually relevant. I think there might have only been a handful of posts that were more chatty than useful information / an update.

Looks really sweet, Echoes. I'll replace the one from yesterday.

Take your time and do whatever you feel like doing. Sometimes it's fun to mix things up. I barely dumped anything yesterday since I got distracted by some photoshop learning. Then my mood flip flopped and I'm tired of photoshop and back to dumping. :p I did learn a lot of things, though.

Yeah, it was actually all relevant to the project, except for the talk about X and the Bionis' left shoulder. Pretty cool Smile

I felt like I leveled up after making that shirt armor thing. I'm actually really enjoying this!

Haha. I've leveled up too. Both in my editing skills (though no where near you guys yet) and my dumping. I'm way better at finding missing IDs than last time, so many little tricks I've learned.

I'm glad you're actually have fun. Makes it a lot more fun in general when I know you're actually enjoying yourself and I'm not actually the slave driver I think I am :p.

Edit:

And to keep things relevant, we just passed the 2gb mark.

2.03gb now. 46,500 files. Don't know if that's sad because of how much stuff there is, or impressive that we've come this far :p.

Edit again: That armor texture you did looks really good too, but that's not really a surprise at this point, haha.

Everybody wins!

Oh, definitely not. I'm getting better at PS thanks to this. I've mentioned it before, but this project was the reason I even got PS. I saw Alekzanderk's spanish text and thought "Mmm. I could definitely translate this stuff for everyone." I went from translating text, to actually making my own textures. I definitely have learned a lot thanks to this project. I never imagined I would be able to actually contribute like that.

Wow, that's pretty crazy, actually!

Thanks, hahaha. I plan on cleaning it up a bit eventually. Maybe I can make it better.

Echoes reaches level 72! I'm still hanging on to about a 12. Tongue Honestly that shirt icon is really good, I'm already using it in my game. It certainly sticks out among the other pieces of armor. Got your new dinosaur icon too, looks great. I'm gonna check it out in game soon, the easiest place to attempt to get one shotted is running by that armu in bionis leg.

Nope, slave driver all the way. But seriously you pointing out inconsistencies and bad textures has given me all kinds of fun stuff to do. It is much more enjoyable to mix it up than keep doing the same thing all the time. And you got Echoes motivated to do some UI textures and it's never looked better.

I'm guessing it's gonna get near 3GB by the end (hopefully not over!). My only concern is how well it's going to compress, the obvious choice being 7z. Might have to crank the dictionary size to the point it gobbles every last bit of RAM.

Yeah, I think 7-zip will probably work best. Probably what I'm going to use to upload my work when I get done. I'm slacking tonight though. I wanted to at least get through Valak tonight; not sure if that's going to happen now. Depends on how many new IDs I get. I'm hoping that someday I'm going to start running into a spot where all of the IDs are reused (lol, yeah right).

And yeah right about motivating Echoes. He just probably felt sorry for my peasant level photoshopping skills. :p

LOL I think you have those numbers backwards, Bighead. I honestly think the game makes it look better than it it is. Actually, the game tends to make stuff look better most of the time. The dinosaur being a good example. Even though the outline I added doesn't look like the best idea at a glance, it looks great in-game. Ditto for the outer glow effect.

Agreed, honestly Frozen's the one making the really tideous work, as poweredbykimchi pointed out before.


Hopefully there is an end to these duplicates somewhere. I think that if we ever somehow are able to retexture the terrain, we should make that a separate download.

Edit: Well, he's basically right. You were buggin-eerrr, asking Bighead about the fast travel map borders and it reminded me that I had actually attempted those before, but left them unfinished, so I went back and fixed them. After that, I tried re-doing something else because you guys were talking about it, and it worked, so I kept at it.

Yeah, it's really annoying sometimes. Lol. But, I love this game so much and it's honestly just a pleasure to walk around and enjoy the world. I've gushed before over it; the art style, the colors, the music, the environment. The game is just really well done. All of the rendered stuff looks pretty decent with dolphin and all of the settings cranked, but the second I open up the menus (without the retextures) I just want to vomit. So, I can not rest until I never have to see a pixelated or jaggy menu texture again in game.

I want to feel like people are actually missing out playing this game without this texture pack. Honestly, I already do. Even with the missing IDs, there obviously a ton of good work to static IDs like the UI, character faces, hair, etc. But I know dumping the missing IDs will make the experience more complete.

I was actually experimenting with modding the terrain a few weeks ago before I really knew what I was even doing. This was an experiment with Eryth Sea, it's pretty bad, I'm almost certain I could do much better now. The grass is hideous, the mountains aren't HD enough, but I do like the sand. http://i.imgur.com/IpcTtal.gif
