This build has always worked perfectly for me, so i've never bothered to change to a newer revision. I will test with a recent build once i get home, but maybe someone can tell me now if this is infact the problem.

1. You are correct. This will also be the reason why some textures won't show up in the game. There are so many times one texture repeats that it's almost impossible to gather them all. One good example are the menu buttons when you press the - sign. They'll work sometimes, but the person who dumped these images didn't test out all possibilities such as day, night, rainy, thunderstorm, heat wave, star fall, etc.

2. That's a very old build. Try using one of the latest 3.0 revision with the HLE patch.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts regarding the textures. I figured this was the case, but i wasn't sure.

I shall try a recent build, probably 3.0 750 XB HLE, when i come home. Hopefully that'll work.

Regarding that post, that is indeed funny lol. Not only that, but i first started playing this game again about 6 days ago or so, and my last save was from 24-08-2011, so exactly a year ago, 2 days give or take XD.

UPDATE: I've tested the game with my selected custom textures with build 3.0 750. It works just fine. Guess the build i was using couldn't load the textures afterall. So i guess i'll just have to switch.

The map crash also happens on Prison Island near the end of the game. Currently downloading / converting 4.0 pack. I'd prefer the packs to be more easy to use "unzip once and forget" versions because converting and choosing the right sub folders currently takes a very long time. I also prefer a single folder structure to not have the same texture twice in different versions and sub folders.

The user pack should only contain one single and preselected version of each texture.

Update: even with 4.0 pack, Dolphin still crashes at the map screen on Prison Island 2. It doesn't crash in Ether Mine anymore but the last two map images of Mechonis Core and Prison Island 2 do not display correctly when being there.

The reason I have folders is so people can choose to put in what they like. Preselecting the textures would mean axing out options you may or may not like. While it's easy to get rid of my own batched sharpened version of the protagonist faces in favor of Red_Schism's version, it gets more difficult to choose if people like the brown version of the GUI vs the blue version, which Monado you want in the title screen, or which custom straploader fits you (or if you don't want any, why should it be in the pack then?). Furthermore, making a version for every possibility would require at least 48 packs because I wouldn't know what you like and what you use. So simply put, no, I won't make everything preselected, but that doesn't mean I'm 100% satisfied with the folder structure either. I'll keep what you said in mind and try to do something about it.

As for the map images, can you dump those maps and upload them. I'm going to report the bug soon. If you dump them, and then put them in your folder, it'll work. I have no idea why it doesn't work in the first place though.

btw guys, why does the USERSREADME.txt say to set texcache accuracy to FASTEST? Enabling custom textures overrides that setting and forces it to be safe.

Some custom textures used to not display correctly if it wasn't at fastest. Maybe it got fixed in recent versions but I'm pretty sure it didn't work properly in the past. I`m going to leave it there because it doesn't hurt.

hm alright, but it would be nice if that sort of issue would be reported on our issue tracker in the future. There's nothing worse for us than asking about some strange stuff and it turns out that everyone knew about it all along but the devs (.. and this is actually alarmingly often the case).

EDIT:
Nevermind, I was talking crap. Enabling "Load Custom Textures" doesn't change anything about texture cache accuracy Big Grin
