Resident Evil HD Remaster vs. RE for the GC ?
Not sure if I put this in the right forum, but anyway I still have the game for GC and I've played the game using Dolphin. Wanted to ask seeing how this game is now in HD for the newer systems how does the Resident Evil HD Remaster compare visually to the playing the GC version it in Dolphin in higher resolutions.

I understand probably many of you have not played the remaster, so here's a better question in general when they make remasters of GC/PS2 games with higher resolutions do you feel that Dolphin/PCSX2 does almost just as good of job as the remaster we are seeing this days ? I inderstand that sometimes remasters have redone textures which Dolphin/PCSX2 does not do that. I'm just talking about games remastered in HD.

thanks

Dolphin can't really improve the resolution of this game because it's mostly all pre-rendered.

Resident Evil HD is way better than the GC version in Dolphin because the backgrounds are prerendered so they can not be up rezed and look very pixelated at high resolution. HD version redid the backgrounds and it looks fantastic. Modern controls don't hurt either lol.

I understand prerendered and all now, although many games have a lot of prerendered stuff playing them in Dolphin still looks much better. There are probably many remasters that just got a simple up convert to HD and those are the remasters I'm talking about now. How do those games compare to playing the same in a emulator like Dolphin/PSCX2 ?

Actually, anything prerendered in Dolphin stands out and looks like garbage when put next to upscaled models. The reason that HD Remasters look good is because the developers have access to the original assets, and are able upscale them.
