Having trouble installing Dolphin.

A couple weeks ago when I was trying to install Dolphin, I could at least get the RAR file to unzip (or whatever), but then it would simply create nothing: The folder the resultant files would go to was empty, with nothing in it.

I gave it another shot recently, but I couldn't even get to the point I got to before; clicking on the package I had just downloaded would yield these two error windows consecutively:



I'm trying to get to play Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness to do some RNG manipulation, but I can't even seem to get the program started at all. Googling the error codes didn't do any good, either.

Does anyone think they might know what the problem is?

I couldn't answer this right away because my computer began doing something it chronically does, that is, turns on but doesn't connect to a working monitor. (It doesn't look like my attached images went through.)

But I did get Dolphin up, and it does run all right, but I have a new question: How do I change the time of the GameCube? I need it to do RNG abuse to get TID/SID, and it's evidently a time-based process like later Pokémon generations' RNG.

By default it gets the time from your PC, but you can override that under Config > Advanced.

Apparently the last post didn't go through.

I was wondering if this was the appropriate place on this site (of if there IS an appropriate place on this site) to ask about the specifics of working a particular game, i.e. Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness? I'm trying to understand how to manipulate seeds and figure out frame advances, and I'm having trouble reading the frames as they move much, much to fast to see.

Somehow the game has started going at about ten times normal speed. I have no idea what I could have done to make it do this at all.

I have the Speed Limit % set to 100%, so that is obviously not causing a problem.

Do you know if you are pressing TAB somehow? Have you updated your Dolphin recently?

Thanks, I pressed it sometime last night shortly after the post and saw that it went back to normal. For some reason I didn't see at first that the TAB key, as listed in the control configurations, did the kind of function that could be related to game speed change. My mistake, not Dolphin's.

I still have no memory of pressing that key, but I obviously did, because when I pressed it again it went right back to normal.

Good to know, I guess, that when I want to speed a game up I can press one key instead of pressing the other two buttons rapidly to go up or down 10% speed.

EDIT: I had heard there was a built-in function for Dolphin in which a GameCube game (like Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness) can trade with a Gameboy Advance game (like Pokémon Emerald) that is also on an emulator. Does it need to be a specific emulator, like VBA for instance? Or can Dolphin connect with any emulator? I want to know before I start an Emerald emulator file so that I don't run into problems connecting with Dolphin eventually.

If there's any good resource on how to connect emulators, I'd love to read it.

This will differ per emulator, but in this case Dolphin comes with an Emulator (mGBA) built-in. See the wiki for more info. There is also a blog post about this. There is also "GBA (TCP)" (that doesn't have a wiki article), that appears it should work with VBA-M and mGBA, but it'll be easier with the integrated one, especially since it appears Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness work better with the integrated one.
